My Hemorroidectomy surgery

I had my surgery on 11/17/21. Removal of 2 external hemorrhoids and a skin tag, not sure which stage, maybe 3 or 4. The surgery was completed in a few hours and i was given some painkillers (oxycodone). I was able to urinate and by 4 p.m. sent home. The pain was bad and I asked my doctor on day 3 to prescribe ketorolac which is a strong ibuprofen to relieve the achy pain. That helped alot. I was able to sleep ok on days 2 & 3 with the help of the oxycodone, valium, extra strength tylenol and the ketorolac. By day 5 i was getting concerned as i hadnt had a BM, even though the doctor prescribed senna 2x a day. Prior to this, i was eating jello, greek yogurt and a few saltines with butter on them. i was trying to give my body time to heal so i wouldnt have to suffer a hard BM. That day, the RN suggested i take milk of magnesia. By day 6, still nothing moving. The RN (mu doctor that did the surgery was on vacation!!) recommended i take magnesium citrate which I did around 10 am. By around 6 p.m. that night my stomach starting having strong abdominal contractions and had to lay on my left side using toilet paper in my underwear to avoid making a mess. I called the next day and the RN suggested i stop the senna. Every five minutes, the pain was so intense i had to clench my teeth and tighten my fist to endure it. Every hour I took a shower, cleaned myself up as very small, maybe about the size of a quarter stools would come out. This went on continuously for 36 hours. I was starting to have difficulty urinating and by day 9 (thanksgiving) my bladder was so full I felt that a watermelon that had soaked in the hot sun for hours, ready to explode. My wife brought me to the ER and thankfully it was almost empty that day. They put in a catheter and immediately 1100 cc's of urine filled the bag. That was a relief. I was sent home with this new challenge of trying to move, sleep with the catheter. At this point, 4 days had passed without any sleep. The stomach contractions continued with nothing but liquid coming out. At this point, i had to wear diapers as the catheter and contractions were coming at different times and uncontrolled. Still no bowel movement. Each day i was being extremely cautious to eat foods with fiber and fruit. The RN said i should take Mirolax daily. On day 15, I returned to the doctor and he looked me over. The swelling had gone down and from that day on, i stopped all pain meds. The doctor didnt seem concerned about the lack of BM, just recommending i be patient. The urge to go to the bathroom comes very frequently and nothing comes out but small amounts of liquid. i can feel the stool at the edge of my rectum , but it wont come out. I am now on day 17 and the doctor said wait until Monday when he gets back in the office to see how i am doing. I feel bloated, with abdominal pain. I laid down this afternoon to rest and couldnt sleep. I felt cold, shivering at times. reading some of the other forums, i believe i will have to remove the stools using gloves. i just wish my doctor truly cared about my welfare. He seemed irritated when i talked to him last night. Unfortunately, we have to be our own advocate in terms of medical treatment. The doctors, RN and staff are overworked and many just dont seem to care. The good thing is at this point, the area of the surgery doesnt hurt at all. no pain meds, just constipation. What a pain in the butt!!
