These are common IBS problems sadly. IBS has hugely impacted my life. I am not working due to...I no longer get calls from friends as I have said I can't go out too many times. I let a very good relationship break down due to my disgust of myself and now I can hardly bear to be around people for fear of gas or having to run to the loo or if on public transport leaping off into a platform loo or even worse in the middle of the countryside looking for a wood and yes this is fact.

I understand the down line very much. Worry is now a part of who I am. All my tests say I am fine.

First change I made was to drink 2 litres of water per day and switch cake for yoghurt.

After an an episode I need to sleep for a good 3-4 hours re: lack of energy.

There are a number of things you can do to help with your ibs. 1st is check your diet. Even if you aren't allergic to things they can still affect you - gluten, dairy etc. Also if you eat too healthy it maybe that your stomach isn't able to deal with it. A lot of veg and fruit has complex fibres. I avoid ones that do and have them in a centrifugal juice maker. It takes out the complex fibres but the drink still has easy to digest fibres in it as well as vitamins.

Try taking a multi bacterial supplement. There are some really good ones. The more different types of good bacteria the better. Take them for 12 weeks and then just when your system is out of kilter.

Find ways to destress. I crochet but you can meditate or what you ever you find best to relax.

    Hope this helps.

Hey I'm currently 15 years old, I've had IBS for about 8-9 months and it makes my life living hell. My stomach hurts everyday all the time and I'm spending hours on the toilet everyday. I find it so hard to cope and it's hard to cope at school but I keep going trying to find a way of making things better because I have a goal. My goal is to try and get better and do well in my GCSE exams in May. I can't advise ways to reduce the pain or improve your health because I'm struggling to find answer myself but I will say this. Have a goal, have a reason to keep going and try to just do something. Work on a hoppy or project, something you can be proud of, if you don't have the energy then don't do something that requires a lot. I'm sorry if I'm not making sense but from my own experiences I know that this website and the people on it really help and I'm happy to try and help others like me. I hope this helps you!

I have constant stomach pain with bouts of constipation.  I used to get soft stools as well but not now.  Mostly, the pain is mild enough not to need medication.  However, somtimes I have an occasional bad flare up which can be agony along with nausea but Buscopan and painkillers help.  My pain used to wake me up at night but this has also improved.

My symptoms were worse before diagnosis which took three and a half months and eight doctors.  I was consumed with panic because no test came up with anything and doctors were baffled.

It seems that I have the same pain like yours. Would you tell me How did the dr diagnose you with IBS. What were your symptopms. It's been two years that I'm suffering colon pain. But mine is not in the lower part of the abdomen but it is in the upper left side exactly in the part the the colon bends. It burns, the burning goes down to the anus and effects my spinal cord like I feel the burning there too and pressure around the tail bone as well it vibrates and the pain sometimes goes to the back. Sometime I feel pressure in the anus area like when I want to go to restroom. The pressure stays for few days the stops but burning and pain is always there in the colon. During the last two years I had constipation not dierieiah. The constipation was sever hard little balls with pain. But recently I've got better but the burning and the pain is still there. But from level 10 is at constant 3.

I've had two different stool tests to see if there is blood in the stool but thankfully there were not. I had ctscan done but it was before the colon pain and the dr told he doesn't want to expose me to more radiation. Many blood works. The only thing that I haven't done is clonoscopy which I am terrified to do. I don't like to be put to sleep and the only drug that they use recently is propofol.

Does anyone have the same pain?

By the way none of the Drs that I went to could not find what's wrong. Unless I do the clonoscopy.

    Please help
