hi all
since may last year ive posted many times on this site and had some great advice
so i thought i would update i had to come of paroxetine after 20 years which i had taken for panic attacks.
il just give bullet points
taper paroxetine..over 2 weeks which i thought was very quick
sertraline 2 weeks 25 g 2 weeks 50g
then up yo 100g for 18 weeks, no better and so many side effects, then up to 150g, after several weeks doc thought dose was too high i was just wired all the time
so back to 100,then to 50g after about 8 weeks
then 25 g for the last 8 weeks, today im still sufferinv with depression , not sleeping, buzzing in my head and dizziness, i feel like ive been to hell, and aged so much.
due to the current situation i didnt want to bother the drs because i thought theyd be too busy.
today i took the plunge and rang for a telephone appointment
i talked to the dr, see has agreed to change my medication... what im trying to say in a very long winded way, is please dont put off contacting your dr. because of todays situation.. i m hoping this new med helps me sleep and in turn that will help my depression .. take care..

l think it's too early to increase dose. l am on week 7 of 50. Side effects not good, tired, heady, eyes not focusing properly and days feeling awful. From research done l understand Sertraline takes time and advice is to persevere.
It's not easy.

Think your initial experience of dosages were all too quick and too large a dose. l tried a few different anti depressants but have now settled with sertraline. Only 7 weeks on 50 and still having side effects but have been given to understand it is slow acting and to give it at least 12 weeks. My doctor doesn't seem to be as busy at the moment, all telephone appointments and they seem to take less time. Good luck.

Sandra well done you for highlighting that you need to contact your GP.
I work in a GP surgery and believe me it is so quiet that it is almost boring.
Nobody should be hesitant about contacting their GP surgery, you may not be able to get a face to face appointment, depending on your surgeries protocol, we are still seeing urgent cases but you will definitely get a phone appointment, which sometimes is all that is needed.
I wish you all the best in being able to find some medication that will work for you
