Did you ever get an answer? I have the same issue: several low lipase tests. I had one that was 7 U/L on a scale of 7 - 59 U/L. From a different lab, I had 34 U/L on a scale of 66 - 360 U/L. I also have had low amylase blood tests. I had acute pancreatitis several years ago, but in those two instances my lipase and amylase were high. I've read that low lipase can be associated with chronic pancreatitis and that is currently what my doctors suspect and I'm having to go see a specialist. I believe there are a few other things besides cancer that can cause low lipase: chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, and injury to the pancreas.

Also, I haven't read of anything that can raise lipase in your body, although they can prescribe digestive enzymes to help your body absorb fat. Lipase helps with fat absorption and I believe lipase is produced mainly in the pancreas and salivary glands. They can do a fecal elastase test to see if your pancreas is functioning properly.

In my case, my lipase was normal (except for when I had acute pancreatitis where it rose to around 900 U/L) until a few years ago and then it started coming back low. At the time, I had started having stomach pains, bloating, and some digestive issues.
