Its good she ended up in hospital or she could have been pushed to kidney failure.

"sepsis". Did she complain of pain (in addition to broken hip)?

They will probably give her intraveneous...antibiotics and hopefully it hasn't damaged her kidneys....kidneys dimish in function as we age...

Just think of the positive..she got to the hospital and she is being treated.  She might not go home tommorow.depending on the extent of the infection so brace yourself....for that.  And just know that she is in the right place.

And thank God she got there.

    Let us know tommorow k?

Im so very sorry your mother has had this happen, but believe being in the hospital is a wonderful thing, as they can monitor and watch over her very closely.. bleeding is a sign of the UTI and does not mean kidney failure. The strong medications used to treat her hip fracture pain hopefully will be gradually decreased, and i am sorry for the halucinating effects you are seeing from the pain treatment drugs. Have you been able to ask if there is a different drug of choice that can be used instead? Being in the hospital, nurses and doctors can watch over very coursely and watch for signs that would indicate her blood levels, and is in the very best place, for care and attempting to stay on top of her fragile needs. Hoping so much that she gradually heals, as she rests and is cared for closely, and is feeling much better soon. I understand how helpless this makes you feel, but do agree that she is in very close medical care where they can watch over her closely, to get control of her conditions so she can leave the hospital and continue getting well.
