My Persistent Rhinitis

Hi All,

I am your average 19 year old teen, i take no illict drugs and i dont often take part in outside activities.

For the last year now i have had a constant runny nose, at first i thought nothing of it, a couple weeks past i still had this horrible blocked nose but what i noticed, that was different to having a common cold, was that my mucus was very very watery, im sorry to gross you guys out, but when i sniffed it was like taking in a whole load of sea water though my nose.

Months then passed still nothing changed, i had just moved out of home to another area where i hadn't registered with a doctor and didnt realy have the time, moving out to my own flat and everything...

a part of me thought, different environment you know, if it was allergies maybe it would stop?, well i didnt know how wrong i was, it only got worse!

I subsituted an old t-shirt over a roll of tissue as i obliterated a roll in about 30mins and a whole t-shit must of lasted me and extra hour.

This runny nose affected everyday life, it was hard to concentrate and work and just do everyday thing without being annoyed or snotty!

i can tell the difference between a cold and my rhinitus strangly enough.

i suffer from really bad inflamation of my mucus membrane, as well as itchyness and sneezing, only the left side of my nose is swollen (all the time) but both of my nostrils are effected.

i bought sudafed spray from the chemists and that worked amazingly for around 30mins and wore off, then stopped working all together about a week later. i then bought vicks spray, no change, i then purchased a vicks inhalor, that only worked while i was actually inhaling, then stopped working the minute i put it in my pocket!!

i went to the doctors last week and was perscribed benazine spray, it only makes me worse and i have another appointment today so will keep u guys informed.

this condition is just making me depressed now i need to get rid of it, ok its my fault ive let it drag on so long, a year now i mean llaazzyy!! but cmon its a runny nose!!

    Glad to know I'm not alone, I've been suffering for over 12 mths now, I started taking hay fever tabs from my local chemist but about 6 mths later they stopped working, so i went to my doctor he gave me some tabs which did work great for just over a month along with a nasal spray, but now still nothing is working I'm on my 3rd nasal spray which is useless? It's driving me mad, I can't go any where without a tissue, people may think its not a big problem but its really getting me down now.

    :cry: DOES NO ONE HAVE A CURE???

    hi guys.i suffered for ages but finally doc gave me a prescription for flixonase capsules. have to lay right back else it goes down the throut. that every day and an anti histermine tablet plus if im still bad a suderfed tablet works for me. if you try it let me know how you get on. good luck.

    I have also suffered with a runny nose sneezing because of dust I think

    and this cold weather makes it worse,if I keep warm indoors the problem is reduced,

    but I do have a box of tissues in every room. I think that I will go to the Doctor and hope he may have the solution. I will report back.
