My Positive sertraline story 50mg

Posted , 11 users are following.

I promised myself when feeling better I would post , as reading other people's positive stories really helped me.

I can honestly say the first few tablets the side effects were horrid, I had the shakes, feeling sick , insomnia, not Hungary , it made me start my period early .   The shakes and sickness went after a few days , but then the aniexty , panic , sadness and tears started .  This went on for a few weeks .   These tablets really do make you feel so much worse before its gets better and they start to work .

it can take weeks to start feeling better ,  I nearly gave up on the tablets but I stuck with them and so glad I did .  I'm nearly back to myself enjoying life again .    The only side effects I have is sweating but it's not all the time just now and then so that doesn't bother me.

im lucky and 50mg have worked for me, I take mine 7 in the morning when I get up for work and now sleep well .

I hope this this post can help someone get through them horrendous weeks before they start to kick in .

I love reading positive stories! How long have you been on it?

Hi , I've been on them 7 weeks now .  I had a good 3rd week but then week 4 went down abit but then it's been onwards and upwards .  I'm not sure how long I'll be on them as I suffer from generalised anxiety and panic and have done for years .   My thoughts are if I'm on them all my life I'm not bothered as long as Im Enjoying my life as I never want to feel how I felt again .   It's only like people needing to take tablets for diabetes all there life.    I am going to start therapy and will try and come off them and see how I go but for now I'll be on them for the forseable .

That's how I feel too. If I need them forever, so be it. My doctor said its a very safe drug to be on long term. I also had a great third week, thinking I was over the hump, and then right before week 4 I went downhill. I upped from 50 to 75 five days ago. I am almost to week 5. I was on sertraline foe several years, and then earlier this year made the decision to wean off. Obviously that wasn't the right thing to do since I'm right back on it but it was worth a shot.

Thank you for posting. It seems like once it starts to work people don't share their successes. Those of us starting out need to hear them!

Hi Tootle, good to read you persevered with Sertraline and the Medication is finally working for you. Like yourself I too am on 50mg of Sertraline and have been for Three weeks, also, I experienced loss of appetite and sweating bouts. But now, I feel 99% better within myself. I know this medicine isn't a quick fix and I'll be on it for the foreseeable future, but, I do hope with counselling and breathing techniques my reliance on medication will subside.

Yes I'm going to give counselling ago too

So good to hear positive stories and so glad it's working. I have been on 25mgs for two weeks and now on 50mgs for the last four weeks. Feeling overall good and so much better than before sertaline. The only problem I'm still facing is not being able to get to sleep but once I do get to sleep boy do I sleep. It still feels strange as so used to being stressed all the time and having panics so trying to get used to thus calmness. Back at the docs on with so will post my story once I reach my final destination. Good luck to all on our up and down journey. X

I love positive stories!! It's great for us who still suffer the ups and downs of getting ourselves to a place that we can relax. Week 4 was my sweet spot, then week 5 (this week past) it felt like I was back to square 1 again. I feel a bit better today than I have all week, extremely sad yesterday. I was on 100 mg for 7 years and increased to 150 mg almost 6 weeks now, so it's always in the back of mind, maybe my body is just immune to the meds now and they won't work this time. There's somebody on this forum with the name sparrow, who always comments on my posts and lifts my spirits when I'm feeling down and want to give up and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I'm praying and hoping for a success story like yours, so I too can help people on this forum who want to give up. Thank you so much for posting.

This is great to read! I'm into my 4th week on Zoloft and one week into 50mg. I have been dealing with increased anxiety and panic attacks during the night. I also have Ativan to help with that until the Zoloft kicks in. I can honestly say I do feel better since starting the med.

I just had our baby girl almost 7 weeks ago so I'm dealing with PPD/PPA along with my OCD. Fun stuff! It's a hard road but I know will get better....I have to. Also my OB dr is sending a referral for a therapist for me which I'm actually looking forward to. I was in therapy years ago and it helped a lot.

Hope you're feeling better Crystal! I know all about PPA and PPD! I had it 6 years ago after having my daughter and have been on cymbalta ever since. I recently had to get off that as I'm pregnant again. I've now fallen into a spiral of anxiety and depression again like I did 6 years ago. My OB put me on sertraline and I'm now on day 16. Continue to update us on your recovery!

I need to go back and look on my calendar, but I think I'm on my third week. So far it seems the only change I've noticed is my anxiety level has gone up. My kids encourage me to give it time, but I've never gone this long on a SSRI without some depression improvement. I've been on Wellbutrin for about ten years I guess. It's worked well for me, but I had been having a rough summer, unusual for me it's usually my best time, so I asked my doctor to try the Zoloft. I've been on multiple antidepressants before and thought it might help. Now I'm thinking I may have made a mistake. We are entering fall and I know winter is coming (my worst time) so I'm trying to figure out if I should drop the Zoloft, or try s bit longer. I also worry that the longer I'm on it the worst it's going to be getting off. Cymbalta was horrible getting off! Any advise?

I am at six weeks and I'm just starting to feel better, and that's only good days and bad. You have to give it time. It takes so long.

I'm just at 8 weeks tomorrow, the knot in my stomach is still there every day. Ocd thoughts still hanging out, although they don't freak me out like they used to, anxiety is up and down. It takes most people 8-12 weeks to feel real good, that's what the majority of users are posting on here. If you stick with it, I'm sure you'll feel better in a few weeks. Keep in touch on this forum, it has given me hope many times when I thought there was no hope.

Thank you Vanessa. I think this site is good for us, to know we are not alone; others are in this fight with us.

I look forward to reading your victories and insights, as well as the stumbling blocks along the way.

I will keep you updated on my progress (one way or another). I looked on my calendar and it's been 18 days I've been on the Zoloft. Not as long as I thought 😝 I've noticed many people were started at 25mg. I was started on 50. So we'll see how this goes
