My Pre-op Is Done And My Revision Countdown Is Official! There Is HOPE In My Painful Darkness!

Yes!! As some of you know, but in case you don't, my first THR was perfect and by the fifth week I felt and appeared as if I had never had surgery! Four months later, had my second one done and it was never right from the start, so for now, 16 months, I have lived with excruciating crippling pain. My surgeon could not find the problem, saying the device was perfectly place and soon after that, I was kicked out of his practice for missing some payments to my account thereby abandoning me without pain management and any hope of fixing the problem. In effect, leaving me crippled for life.

Fast forward to now. 300 miles away from home I went to Nashville, TN, U.S.A., Vanderbilt University for my second opinion and landed, by the grace of God, with a reputable specialist in revisions of hips and knees. He found my problem immediately as my prosthesis had come loose tipping forward. At Vanderbilt, to prevent infection, the operating rooms are sealed off with self contained filtered air and the surgeon and assistants, two 5th year near graduation joint specialists instead of the usual nurses, each wear bubble hazmat suits in which they breathe their own oxygen. So basically the only germ in the surgery room will be me!

I have contacted a reputable attorney to see if there is cause for legal action against the first surgeon.

Hope. HOPE! I am looking forward to recovering my life! No longer will I be a permanent fixture on my couch!

When I first found this site, I was ready to give up and die because of the severe pain and feeling so alone.

To everyone who has supported me, THANK YOU! And I plan to pay it forward on this site to others.

Love,

Dawn, U.S.

Hugs back Patricia from me who wishes for snow that is not here! Yes my children have safe great places to stay and my women's group will bring food over for the first 2 weeks once I get home.

I am truly a blessed person and I agree that this year will be a great one! I might even be able to garden again! Carefully of course.

      Hugs,

    Hi DawnDee,

So much Terriffic news. Great to hear. Β I truly wish u all the best.

This takes a lot out of our spirits sometimes. You have a great spirit and so many things to work for and to look forward too. And lots of support here as well as UR family.

Vanderbuilt has an excellent reputation. The description of the oOR SOUNDS great. With all the germs around you will not experience any infection as they also give antibiotics thru IV during surgery. So when is the event scheduled to move onto mobility. I'm surprised that didn't show up on reays the tilt in the hip. No wonder it was so hard to walk and painful.Β

I do remember the dr. Kicking you out of his office for the reasons you explained. At the time I wrote you that was illegal. Anyway that's water under the bridge and your are movin foreword thank The Lord, and may he give you all that you need to sustain you through your next journey and the challenges that lay ahead.

    Kind Regards

    3time THRΒ

Did u see the post this wk? Young lady said they are going to put in a oversized implant.

    I feel for her .

What is ur surgery date.want to pray for u if that is ok

Yes Ginger I saw that post. So sad and it angers me that those "PRACTICING" medicine often do not hold themselves accountable for their mistakes that change the patients lives forever in a bad way. I hope and pray that all goes well with her.

My surgery date is Feb. 26th. Thanks for your prayers Ginger, I appreciate it!

Curtis, glad to help you in anyway I can. I spent about 10 months feeling like the victim I was, but the people on this site helped me so very much to stand up and become my own advocate.

Wishing you the strength to endure what you must and the strength to fight the good fight as you advocate for yourself and find your solution.

Thank you Eileen! Yes it is my third and hopefully my last! When this hip levels out then I can focus on replacing my shoulder joints, and I plan to have them done at Vanderbilt also.

I am no where near organized because of my incredibly messy children and my pain that discourages movement. But by the 26th I will be organised!
