My Sertraline Journey: Urination

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have been on Sertraline for Anxiety for about 4 weeks now. I've previously had countless hypnotherapy/CBT sessions, and have been on many medications (SSRIs, SNRIs) for the last 5 years. I've had the usual side effects that everyone seems to be having... increased heart rate, upset tummy, headaches, dizziness and increased anxiety which i had with all my medication. The one thing i didn't have problems with in my previous medication was urinating. I now urinate more often (almost feels like having a bladder infection). Even if i am desperate to go it still takes a while to do so. I really have to try to clear my head (which is bloody hard) and sometimes have to count to urinate. Does anyone have the same side effect?

    Did u find cbt helpful??

CBT was helpful on the day but when i woke up the following morning it was like i never had it. I would keep second guessing it and being negative, because that what anxiety does. It really depends on the person and whether you truely believe you will get better. From my experience it has taken years to improve, but everyone gets bad days.

They just upped my dose and I'm super anxious bad thoughts. Is this normal?

Definitely. It is a very common side effect. It even says on the leaflet with your medication that sometimes your symptoms may get worse for the first 4 weeks. I have just upped my dosage too so i am expecting increased anxiety. Just stick with it... be strong. The side effects WILL get better smile

      Hi!

All those symptoms are very common. A lot of people say it takes 4-6 weeks for the side effects to wear off. It took me about 3 weeks. However I am still tired most of the time which is something that I will have to live with. I'm used to that now as I've been on many previous meds that used to make me tired also. As for having increased anxiety... that will get alot better after a few weeks. Let me know how you get on smile
