My Solutions, PLS READ

I have worsening HS for many years now. I'va had them removed twice which I believe is all you can do when an area gets really bad. Like many of you I have been given Antibiotics, Benzoclin, etc. They have an affect but its too late because you already have a boil(s).

About 4 months ago I had my last run of Anti biotics and I decided that enough was enough. I had to do something proactively to avoid getting them on the first place. Since starting I have been boil FREE for 4 months, I got one just recently but I can almost pin-point what was different during that week.

I am not over weight, actually the opposite, A regular gym person 4 days a week for well over a decade. I eat healthy but I have always had a bad habit of eating sweets late at night.

Here is what has helped me:

**1**  -  Stanhexadine 4% Solution: This is available at most Pharmancies but you have to ask the Pharmacist as they may have to order it for you. It is a very bright red/pink and comes in a pump bottle. The one I buy is 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate and 4% Isopropal Alcohol. In the US I believe you can buy a product called Hibiclens which is the same 4% solution. THIS WORKS!!!!! I wash with it everyday in the shower after washing with Dove soap. I recommend using everytime you shower and never go to bed without properly cleaning yourself.

**2** -  No more snacks after dinner, none. No candy, chips, fruit, etc. Eat dinner 4-5 hours before bedtime and stay away from snacks for the rest of the eve. If you are really craving then have a peice of gum. You need to control your bodies insulin production just as one would do when your trying to shed fat of your body, Remove suger thus reducing Insulin and train your body to burn fat by eating healthy fats, think nuts and avacados!

**3** -  TUMERIC, Start taking pills each day, I take one in the morning and 2 before bed or with dinner. Tumeric is all natural and is a very powerful anti-inflamatory. Inflamation is half the battle with HS.

I started the above all at the same time: My turn around was within the first week. I noticed no new boils, painful ones started to decrease, and hard spots started to soften and within a few weeks everything felt normal again. I almost forgot what normal felt like.

Now, if you get a boil. Hot Pack to bring the boil to the surface. Increase tumeric and washing. If its bad enough then have your doctor drain it. If its still seems the area is prone to getting another cyst (You all know this feeling) then make an appoinment and have it removed. I know we all hate this but getting it removed is like hitting the reset button. You'll deal with the stiched for a few days but once they come out your have a nicely healed area.

I agree tumeric is amazing I take 4 a day! I ran out and had a outbreak two days later so I now have several bottles. I also use the Hibiclens regularly. I will have to try the eating suggestions. Thank you!

What is the strength of the turmeric you take and are you taking antibiotics at the same time.

The pills I have are 500mg. I normally dont need to take the antibiotics, only if I have a nasty boil, but I do take the tumeric regardless. Mention it to your doctor to make sure it wont be an issue but generally it shouldn't poise a problem. Tumeric is commonly found in South Asain and Indian cooking.

Thanks for this! What brand turmeric capsules do you take? Im looking online & some say turmeric root extract & others just say turmeric food supplement. Which one should I get or are they both the same? I've only recently developed HS after the birth of my 2nd son 5 months ago (developed lumps under my arms within days of giving birth). I'm not over weight, although i did gain a lot during pregnancy but im almost back down to pre pregnancy weight now. I can't seem to find any pattern with triggers at all, although i have a feeling mine may be stress induced if this is possible? I only have HS so far in my left arm pit. I have the lumps constantly & get new ones everyday but ive only had 2 occasions where they've flared really badly. Its horrendous when this happens, i cant even describe the pain to anyone who hasnt experienced HS but you guys know! I've been referred by my gp to see a dermatologist but apparantly the waiting list is huge, so i've decided to go private. My problem is that I cant find any consultants here (northern ireland) that specialise or have experience with HS! I am terrified of this disease spreading or progressing to the later stages! Im guessing mine is fairly mild atm & im finding it hard to deal with already. Does it always spread & become worse? Or can it be contained to the one area? My Dr knows nothing & can give me no advice or help!

Thank you for your tips! I think the sope helps too. Now I'll add the tumeric - this isn't the first time I hear of it.

I also believe you are spot on as far as insulin - still trying to get that under control but I have a hunch that's a big factor.

    Good luck!
