Hi I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. I have had problems with my stomach swelling twice. This is called ascitis and is due to the liver not coping with the alcohol. Both times I was admitted to hospital to have the fluid drained away. I would definitely advise seeing a Dr immediately. Hope this is helpful.

In my case it was swollen for a couple of weeks until I saw my Dr and I was sent straight to hospital. Where I was admitted over night while they drained my stomach. This is how I found out I had cirrhosis. They also put me on water tablets which helps with the swelling and told me to cut down with alcohol. X
