My son has kerion of the scalp. Need some advice

Hi guys. I've joined the forums in a hope someone has been through something similar and can put my mind at ease. In December my 8 year old son was diagnosed with alopecia which at the time was devastating. It got worse and a month or so later I took him back and was told it was in fact ringworm of the scalp. He was given some daktacort and sent away. Another month or so and it was getting worse again so this time they prescribed fluconazole for 2 weeks. Again no improvement. By this time my little boys hair in the affected area had completely gone. He was told it was kerion and given antibiotics and a further two weeks of fluconazole. Again nothing, this has gone on since then so I pushed for an emergency visit to a dermatologist who said he should be on 8 weeks terbinafine. He's into his 2nd week and still really bad. I'm now worried he will be left with permanent scars and huge bald patches.

Does anyone know if this is reversible or is he going to have this bald patch for life? Id be absolutely devastated if so. Appreciate any advice.

First, may I say that I have offered a prayer for your son. I have Toe nail fungus and am lossing my toe nails. I went to the Hospital for help, appealing to a specialist. The speciallist said that this is in my blood and comes out through or under my Nails. It has to be attacked orally and my nails. I have dropped the word TOENAILS as it now appears on my hand nails. I have drops to smear on my nails then scrape off the fungus growth. The scraping of the growth is simulated with mowing the lawn. Cleans it down but encourages more growth from within, thus the effective cure is from within. The speciallist gave me four medications to take to my GP so that I got it free on prescription. However the chemist only gave me two items. The GP appears to know better than the speciallist! I have experienced several mistakes from my GP in the near past such as three consultations of my wife suffering from breathlessness near suffocation. The first time was that it was a common cold as she appeared at the surgery several days delay to get an appointment. The second time it was hayfever and was given an inhailer. The third time my wife had to be driven back home from an outing with her friends as she appeared to be fighting off suffocation so the gave her a  plastic flask to blow the inhailer into. The fourth time I had to call an ambulance as the Doctors do not work overtime and she was once again suffocating. The Ambulance said that they would be two hours to get to my wife so I said that they should not bother coming but send the doctor with the death certificate. The arrived within minutes. They found her in the bathroom swabbing cold water over her head. The took one look and said this is classic Heart Failure. They took the inhailer and the flask and threw both down the stairs. They said this was definitely not the first Heart Attack. She died in the ambulance but the took twnty minutes to recover her before thay too off to the hospital where the successfully treated her. Why am I telling you this? Because it is incumbant that your mum does not completely leave the treatment to your GP, but like you are doing  - do your own research as well. You will find that in the end Mum knows best. Keep searching using this media. All the best.
