My spinal cord stimulator causes extremely painful pressure in my mid-back.

I received my SCS two years ago. When 1 month of implantation I have to have a second surgery to revise the location of the leads because they had moved. One year after that I had to have the device removed and a new device put back. I have had the new one since February. Three days ago I began having severe pressure at the lead incision site and eventually had to go to the ER. They did not know what they were looking at in the x-rays and just told me to follow up with my pain management doctor. Has anyone had this type of pressure and pain at the lead site?

    hi

i had my nervo hf10 scs implanted in january & have had nothing but trouble and more pain with this. ive had no relief pain wise for my back which is why i had the device. i complained to the consultant theat the device had moved & twisted & felt like it had twisted upside down & continues to move like different directions, so it can be moved upside down, sideways & as though it has flipped from front to back & i get a big dint in my bottom. i also feel like i have really bad pain as though somebody is continuously pushing/pressing on the device. i cant put any pressure on the leg & is dangerous when driving as it goes numb the leg that it is fitted in. i cant sit or lay or put pressure on that side thats implanted.

i complained to pain cons & nurses & nervo company who said theres noway it can move & think im just moaning/imaging it. however when the device was fitted they didnt take any final scans (as its done under guided xray) so have nothing to look at or they have been lost etc. my last visit to pain nurses & nervo team i continued to complain & say take it put as its hurting & not helping at all. nervo lady said she could see on computer when they check the leads & ammend the programms that she could see that it looked like one of the leads had moved abit but maynot have much affect but they couldnt see the 2nd lead, eventually they requested for me to see the consultant again & requested xray to check position of device/wires etc which i had a week ago & i could see that the device is actually upside down & looks like it is back to front aswell & the wires are all coiled. the radiographer wouldnt say much as she didnt have anything to compare the leads to when had it implanted to see if they had moved etc but she did ask when ive an appointment with my consultant, i am awaiting this. anybody had anything like this & what happened? thanks

    Hi Alayna,

I had something similar to what your talking about. First of all what is the name of your device? Nevro, Medtronic's, Boston Scientific? What they found was once they replaced my battery pack, scar tissue built up around the leads an because of this the unit stopped working, which was the best thing that happened.

I had my unit taken out this past February....it did nothing but helped sitting much easier since my battery pack slipped down three inches, which made it like I was sitting on a hockey puck all day.

I want these manufacturers of these devices to go through another FDA approval process.

    Hello,

I had something similar, it turned out to be scar tissue built up around the lead wires. I had mine implanted by my pain management doctor and within three days the battery pack slipped three inches pulling out the leads, and the wires were just dangling right around my spinal chord.

The second surgery was done by a surgeon who put in the paddle system. After this surgery the battery never kept its charge, i was being shocked and it felt like an elephant was standing on my lower back where the battery was.

I had the device totally removed last February, and the pain never changed other than I feel so much better knowing this piece of crap device was out of my body.
