I had a severe attack after losing my daughter five years ago over the next five years. I didn’t have one for three years , Went to ER and was given IV in pain meds after the second pain shot it went away and I return home. In May I have a stomach ache upper right abdominal area all night long not that excruciating pain but just enough that I couldn’t sleep. I took a muscle relaxer and it seem to help. Then I had a major attack and went to ER the pain was so excruciating, I was vomiting, sweating, racing heart, and just trying to survive. And I haven’t drank in about 30 years. Hi Tina,
I know if you google Pancreatitis it says it says the number one reason is drinking, but it can be caused by other issues. Your gall bladder and pancreas share the same duct and if you have gall stones it can cause a blockage and give you pancreatitis. can also be issues with your duct it self not allowing the flow from your pancreas. It also can be hereditary do you have any family members that have had issues?
Tina I have had bouts of pancreatitis for the past 8 or so yrs. I have had it maybe 15 times now. I know your pain. They should be able to tell pancreatitis from a ct scan. I had my gallbladder removed 3 yrs ago in hopes that would stop it. But it has not. I am not a big drinker, I drink socially out at the boat, camping a party ect. I'm not a everyday drinker. I have gotten pancreatitis and not had a drop of alcohol in 5 months. I am now dealing with it all over again. It started july 2nd, lasted 4 days started feeling good and then flared up again, same thing last 3 4 days started feeling better and again flared back up. its now aug 9 and still dealing with the issues. This is the longest I have ever had to deal with it. Before it was acute pancreatitis now worried it changed to chronic. I have had a ct scan, just did a blood panel checking for cancer due to my sister having leukemia 20 yrs ago. Have seen a GI specialist and have a MRI ordered in a few weeks. The GI specialist ordered a blood order to check hereditary . I also just found out that my mom had to cousins That past from pancreatitis issues some 25 yrs ago. So my guess they will find it being hereditary.
Tina my suggestion would be seeing a GI specialist . I wish I had years ago and maybe I would not be in the situation I am in now. They will know what test to run and be able to rule and rule out issues.
