My story

hi all its great to find this discussion site, it will really help people know it happens to other people too.

i went on sertraline 100mg in March 2019 when i lost my son aged 27.

it really helped me keep sane and controlled my bereavement. I lost 2.5 stone when i was on them only due to slimming world which was fantastic.

the side effects are not too bad if you come down slowly under the doctors orders.

I did 100mg one day then 50mg another until no side effects were present. ( brain shocks like rushing noises when my eyes moved, very weird)

I am now weaned down to 25mg alternate days and i am suffering hives on my stomach, ( itchy raised lumps) not sure if that is normal. has anyone else had this side effect?? eye lids are sore too with blurred vision. I will now try and stop the medication and hopefully the side effects will disappear.

My mood is still ok at the moment, hoping i can live with my sons death a little easier now as its been over 2 years.

i was glad of sertraline as it got me through a tough time in my life. keep you informed of being completely off them.

I also get the itchy hives every now and then and believe they are anxiety related. I also heard that if you come down on doses slowly , the side effects may be minimal. Wishing you all the best!
