I've been dealing with globus sensation for four years now. It all started when I was 18 and a senior in high school. I am 21 now and am still dealing with this every day. The night when it started I had a panic attack because it felt like I wasn't getting in enough air. It was the scariest night of my life. Ever since then, the sensation hasn't gone away. I went to the doctor when I first started feeling it and I broke down crying in her office. She said there was nothing wrong with my throat and suggested I see a psychiatrist. I have been on anxiety/depression medication for four years now all because of this dang feeling. They say that my anxiety is what causes the globus sensation but it is the GLOBUS THAT CAUSES MY ANXIETY. I have seen ENTs and specialists and had tubes pushed down my throat all to reveal nothing.
Every day I feel like I have to take very big breaths in order to get in enough air past this lump I feel in my throat. It seems to be more at the base of my throat where I feel it. My throat and mouth also frequently feel very dry and I feel the need to drink all the time to soothe it, but not even 2 minutes later my throat feels dry once again. I don't know what to do anymore. There's been periods of my life where it hasn't been my main focus, but it always comes back and I think is something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life.
It's very helpful to come on here and see there are others who understand the way that I am feeling. If any of you have any suggestions on what I can do to help relax or help my throat it would be much appreciated. I also sometimes get so frustrated and upset with this that I really feel like I just want to die. I want to beat this so badly and be happy. If someone can please help me get some hope back in my life that would be much appreciated also.

There is nothing to cure it just trying to forget about it and relax. I take medication for acid reflux which helps a bit.
There are some neck exercises you can try on you tube or maybe a nice relaxing neck and shoulder massage.

they say its because of anxiety but globus is wha gives me anxiety also.
My globus now has decreased its 'pain' not as painful as before, one night i had acid reflux, it was so sour and bitter I ran to the kitchen and eat sugar, yes i know it sounds crazy but i was panicking my throat feels like burning. Then after it i stilm feel my globus and i literally cried because of it but the day after it, the globus was somewhat lessen idk i still have it now.
And try gaviscon when you have acid reflux, take care.

yeah i know it feels bad. At least know that your not alone. I myself spend so much time obsessing about the reasons on ocd.. but all we can do at the moment is to be ok with it and make the best of our time isnt it? Im too fighting this right now.And honestly? i HATE the feeling its sooo annoying... its not even like a real pain.. i cant put it into words, but yeah... I just ordered some chineese medicine over the internet, it should come soon.
If it helps, i will write about it in this forum.
Also stretching/water and voice exercises seem to help. Maybe you like singing?

I can't say welcome to the globus forum because i don't want to have many people suffering from this condition. However, you are not alone.
Mine started like some sort of allergy and in an instant, i thought that i swallowed a foreign object , hair or pill that got lodged on your throat. My globus came and went in what felt like the longest couple weeks of my life, peaking with some terrifying swallowing awkwardness for a few days in the middle. For a sensory phantom, globus is quite the bully.Globus feels like something in your throat, but it’s all in your head. Apparently! there is no pain nor difficulty in swallowing in fact it is relieved by drinking or eating.
I just wish i could undersatnd it more. I don't know what panic attacks, anxiety or depression means until i had globus. sad to say it really affected my life so much that no matter how i try to control feeling its presence i know it's always there.SO WHICH ONE REALLY CAME FIRST?
Anxiety disorder or the globus? And Doctor Wiki Googly said that it is similar to cricopharyngeal spasms, it is totally harmless, uncomforatable self-limiting disorder and will resolve itself over a period of time.
To relieve it i extend my head backwards and try to blow kisses on the ceiling.
apply warm compress or better yet let the warm water runs through my neck in the shower.
Truth is you'd totally wouldn't notice it when you are busy and distracted.
Big question is will it ever go away. Just had it in Feb this year and I think my mind will go away before this globus if i give in.
I'm just a message away. I hope we find a panacea for this odd feeling.
