My Teeth

I have had SJOGRENS for over 10 years , I was diagnosed in 2008 By a Rumatoligist that my MD referred me to.

I only had minor symptoms from that point until about 2016 when I noticed I was fatigued all the time , the dry eye and dry mouth had become my new normal and I just learned to cope! Now fast forward to 2018 my entire mouth is rotting away  as I have spilt 3 teeth in half from just chewing food . I am 51 and have always took my apprence very serious and had wore braces both as an adolescent and young adult , having a pretty smile was something that allowed me to be successful in sales .

Now I am faced with loosening the one thing I truly took pride in , it would be easier for me to have lost a hand or foot or anything but my teeth !

So I researched how to fix or replace my teeth and found several Dental Implant companies the only problem is dental insurance is limited and most of the company's want except it anyway ! So you have to have either really good credit or be wealthy and I am neither, I had very good credit until SJOGRENS caused me to miss a considerable amount of work and was unable to hold down a job which in turn led to bills not getting paid ! So I have a huge problem facing me and not sure where to even begin .

The cost for fixing my mouth is between $40,000 and $60,000 and I have been turned down for financing , so if I can't get my teeth fixed I can't face my self toothless, I am a Christian man  and I believe in being positive but I am so lost and feel like this problem is so huge that I can't get around it ! I am looking for advice from anyone who can tell me how to hang on I love life and typically a happy person but this had left me broken and very depressed I can't see away to solve the big obstacle which is $ if I was rich this would not be an issue but I'm not and therefore I have been faced being toothless and that in it self makes me want to just give up! Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Oh Michael, how I wish I had a solution for you. I think we all fear this. You are the 2d person I know of who's had such a severe issue. Will dental schools help at all? I mean, dentists have to train for everything so why not this. I imagine that would be a slow route but worth checking into. In the meantime, what gave you been told to do to maintain what you've still got?

I'll keep you in my prayers.

I think someone on here recommended trying a dental school for someone with a similar issue.  There is one in most areas. Even my mom gets free dental X-rays at a dental school in her town. Have you thought of a go fund me page?  I know that’s a little awkward. I don’t like to put myself out there like that. But when other people do it- seems like a good thing to do.

I would go to a dental school as well. I think they will help you. We have case where I live in Cleveland. You will have to pay, but it’s on a sliding scale...I relate to your horrible situation. I am sorry☹️

Get false teeth instead of dental implants I had to do this and I have them takes payment out of my checking account every month so they know they are getting paid. I know someone who has been burned to extreme she has a good fund me page but there are many problems with them. Other ppl may not. I would good with false teeth.  I did it works Just a suggestion

I am sorry to read this but losing my teeth was the only way footrests for me 5 lower teeth and then over a year the rest in 1991-92. I have had to have several sets made. Over the years. If you can keep teeth in it is better. I havr S. S and keep them or at night. This leads to lower gum reduction. Its cheaper than implants and worth the sores with regular dental hygiene this helps p prevent them. There's no other way. Or just hang on to what you have and get regular dental treatment until you need to have them removed. They can make a plate and add to it as you go. Dentist wl explain better.
