My Tinnutus experience

Hi
My tinnutus started 11 months ago when I stupidly stuck cotton buds right down my ears and went deaf and was then left with a buzzing in my right ear which drove me mad. I had ear drops and antibiotics as I had made a hole in my ear and had an infection. I was off work for 6 weeks and couldnt sleep eat and was very anzious. It was awful.
I saw a consultant at Benenden Hospital and was told I hadnt done any lasting damage and it would go.
It does go for certain periods but I have alot of stress at the moment and that does make it come up again.
When i went to greece in September I was tinnitus free for 7 weeks it was amazing.
I had accupuncture last week and it went for 4 days. I will def be having more.
I listen to a hypnoptherapy cd when I sleep or wave music which is very relaxing.
I have read that ginseng bilabo is very good has anybody tried it?
I am begining to think I will have this intermittent tinnutus forever. I have read about the tinnitus clinic in London but it is expensive. Has anybody been?
It has got easier to bear but it does impact on my life.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Some have found that taking a regular dose of ginkgo biloba ( it is extracted from the leaves of the ginkgo tree) can also help. What it does is to naturally accentuate the blood circulation in the brain, eyes and ears, thus helping your body to deal with whatever damage has caused your tinnitus.
In the United States they have tried a new therapy based on electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve, with a good rate of success, but it is still in the experimental stages and it probably won't be available very soon. At least it is something to look forward to, though. A bit of hope.
Good luck!

I've had tinnitus, sometimes mild and other times bad in both ears and know that Aspirin/and or Codeine makes it works. I have to take 75mg Aspirin after heart attack and have taken tablets for migraine which contain Codeine. I am on a long list of meds for COPD and Heart problems, so do you know if it would be OK to try ginkgo biloba, as I know some alternative meds interfere with ordinary meds. I also take Nitrazepam (am addicted, unfortunately, due to a now deceased doctor telling me they weren't addictive). Any info would be appreciated. Someone on here mentioned using Ephedrine Nasal drops as a cure, purchased from Chemist (although I can no longer find it), Have tried Boots and other leading Chemists and they don't stock it and don't even seem to know what I'm talking about...!! If you have any info that might help, I'd appreciate it.
Regard, Val.
