MY TRAUMATIC DENTAL EXPERIENCE

I had this nerve pain for 6 days and put it down to stress. The pain shot right from my head to my left jaw. I could not determine the location in my mouth where it was coming from.
On the 7th day i walked into The Royal London Dental Emergency Department. I had sleepless nights. They examined me and did some electric shocks to see if i felt anything. I then got sent for an xray.
They discovered that one of my upper left teeth has a lesion under the gum. They wanted to see of they could save the tooth. After numbing the tooth they began to explore by drilling and probing. All of a sudden i felt a sharp excruciating pain elsewhere in my mouth. The Doctor said ot was referred pain. I told them i don't want to do this anymore and to extract the tooth. They packed my tooth with an antibiotic and lead paste and sent me home. I had an appointment in the morning.
Day 8 i arrived back at the hospital for my extraction. They gave me anesthetic about 8 times that day as i could feel everything. The tooth broke and they were trying to extract the nerve. They said that Caribbean people have dense bones that's why they were having trouble. The tooth would not budge it was as if it was fused to the jaw bone. So they then had to cut the gum open to expose the bone and drill. It took another hour of stress and me trying to control my breathing. Ot eventually came out. I had to have sutures to cover the exposed bone.
I now feel very traumatised but i went straight to work after. My boss made me leave earlier and today i had to ring on sick because it has all hit me.

Sometimes when having injections for fillings it can hit a nerve which can be painful which isn't very nice and also you have to be careful if they want to take the nerve out while leaving the tooth there. I had this done many years ago but wasn't told that it would turn my tooth a darker colour, so dark that I had to have a crown fitted which doesn't match my other teeth. Perhaps if I had it done now they would be able to get a better match but I won't take the risk of having it done again. My husband and sister both insist on not having injections as they think, quite rightly I suppose, that the dentist has to be far more careful if the jaw hasn't been deadened. I suppose the answer is to make sure we all keep our teeth in very good condition so that we won't have to have fillings or extractions. My husband and I have kept our teeth in much bettter condition since we started to use electric toothbrushes.

I hope you have improvement now? well im surprised to read your experience and i had exactly the same experience on thursday the 12th june 2014,needed 7-8 injections to numb but I could still feel pain. Tooth came out with lots of struggle but I could still feel the pulling.Dentist says she needed to cut the bone to get to tooth out. tooth was also cut in to pieces.
I would like to ask how long it took you to get better? I know it depends person to person but still it will be help to know and have an idea. I have pain in my left ear leading to my left side of head.
I went to see dentist today to make sure it was ok but she says it seem rather aggressive wound and she has given me another course of antibiotics for 5 days.
I have another root canal booked.this tooth is next to the tooth that was taken out,and im having 2nd thoughts maybe it is best to go else where.. I dont know really..
