My up and down ride with Prostate tests

I  have been checking my prostate PSA for years. My PSA was never under 4 sometimes it would jump to 8. I started getting some signs of discomfort.

My last PSA came back at 10 so we did another one which came back at 8  with a free PSA % of 8 which is not good. Doctors deceided to do a MRI and it came back showing 2 dense masses which were marked as cancer.

I started freaking out, and went for a biopsy, the docter took 12 core samples where the tumers were located, they came back as zero cancer found

They really need to find a better way to test this stuff.

I just wanted to tell my story.

    What are the two masses?

      1. 1.5 cm right peripheral zone nodule at the prostate base with imaging

      characteristics suspicious for prostate cancer.

      2. 0.8 cm left peripheral zone nodule at the prostate base with imaging

characteristics also suspicious for prostate cancer.

I seem to remember my first biopsy (conscious) found very little but was considered 'suspicious'. Continued monitoring and a couple of years on a second multisample biopsy under general anaesthetic found definite, but not alarming cancer cells. Since then PSA has been regularly checked and stays around 8.5, so no treatment required. It isn't an easy process, but if we can keep from getting over-anxious, I believe in finding out as much information as possible and am glad the docs take these things seriously without themselves getting alarmed. I have found it possible to live with this level of cancer, as most of the time I forget it's there.
