my venlafaxine withdrawl success

Hi folks, see lots posts here about withdrawls and how to come off this drug and would like share my story how i did it.

I went from 150mg/day XL version to 0 in space of two weeks.

For the first week i reduced to 75mg/day

For week two i reduced t0 75mg/every second day

Then at end of week two stopped.

There were minor withdrawl syptoms reducing from 150mg to 75mg. On stopping altogether about two days in to it i had really bad dizzy feelings and brain zpas as everyone else say they endured. Looking up online i saw people recommend omega-3 oil and anti histamines to help the withdrawl symptons with little success. On day 5, still suffering with these i tried travel sickness pills (on advice of pharmacist), as they help with dizzyness and almost half an hour later felt much better. Could still feel slight light headidnes but nothing like it had been.

Now on day 8 i feel totally fine and reduced travel sickness pills by half and will continue to lower the dose of them.

My pharmacist said that all those methods of cutting pills and capsules is just basically prolonging the "agony" and would like to say, his method of travel sick pills worked for me.

It may not work for everyone, but this has worked great for me and worth the effort. Would suggest taking a few days off work on reducing to to 0, other than that, stock up on travel sick pills and drinks lots of water (i did about 5 litres/day).

Hope some find this advice useful

Thanks for sharing this, I am on lansoprazole (anti-sickness medication) because I have GERD, I am at the end of the first week of cutting down from 150 mg to 75 mg, and have been feeling dizzy, especially in the evenings when it's time to take my dose. I also had a really bad migraine all day Saturday, which went on to Sunday. I am not too bad in the mornings as I take 20 mg fluoxetine, which I plan to stay on as it has worked for me in the past without turning me into a zombie. I think that I will try your method. I will take the 75 mg tonight, then again on Thursday night, I am seeing my doctor on Friday morning.

Brilliant news, well done, I am on advice from doc going from 150mg-75mg-150mg etc alternating, have done that for the last wk but am going to do just 75mg from tonight and cut out the 150mg, i agree it is just prolonging the inevitable and as they have put me on hrt patches i have been feeling better, due to full hysterectomy in 2012 which the doctors forgot! so will have the anti-sickness tabs ready for the ending of the ven meds, hopefully will be med free by nx wk end and just on hrt- if necessary will be going to keep up on healthy food and feeling gt when off this venlafaxin forever xx Nice to see sucess story, gives everyone hope xx

I am on HRT tablets, have been on them since 2007 when I had a hysterectomy, does this affect the meds, I've seen other comments about HRT, does it affect the ven?
