Hi, I do hope you have gone back to the surgeon. Stiffness is normal for a short while after a bunion operation, but the other toes should not be effect. Best to go back and demand an x-ray and an explanation. Always best to return to the source before seeking another opinion

    Hi Angelo

I can sympathise with your wife. I too had a bunion and hammer toe op about 14 mnths ago. I have been in continual pain since and now after x rays it looks like my third toe bone is growing downwards. I'm walking on my metatarsal bone which is very painful so I don't think I have a choice but to have another op. I've seen the podiatrist and he can only give an insole to go into my shoes. My feet have always been very wide but now my operated foot is even wider so not easy to find shoes! After my first op I was in a lot of pain so I really don't want another op. I cannot understand why they didn't notice this problem before when I kept complaining that the pain was under my toes and not in my bunion? I'm not happy. Can anyone advise me if there is an alternative?

    Thank you.

Look for a foot specialist, expert in keyhole foot surgery. Podiatrist not really the best choice, in my eyes only. For certain problems you need an orthopaedic trained guy. Your foot should not be wider after a Hallux operation, it should really be narrower. Looks like you really had a bucket full of bad luck. So sorry

      Hi Susan

Thank you so much for your reply. I really am very grateful to you. I was given the podiatrist by the nhs so I didn't know I could find another route! I cannot afford private but I will definitely look and ask into finding a keyhole foot specialist when I am referred to the next surgeon. This has gone on too long. I had my first surgery by Care Uk and I was not pushy enough to find the best surgeon for me. Thanks again Susan for your kindness. I wish you well too.

    Hi Angelo

sorry to hear your wife's still having problems after all this time.  I have just started having physio, I'm thinking this is the way to go.  Good luck

Not entirely sure what a bunion Oscapi is, I had a Scarf & Akin procedure and am having a lot of problems 3 months down the line,  Hence, I have decided to start seeing a physiotherapist who seems really good.  I have a lot of pain in the ball of my foot and he thinks it may be related to the stiffness of the muscle which he is working on.
