Myomectomy

My whole ordeal started 2/13 with severe heavy bleeding and huge clots.  U/S revealed a fibroid the size of a lime.  I had a mymectomy on 4/3/18.  After surgery I was up and moving around no pain.  I had the usual bleeding that the dr said would happen.  Bleeding tapered off after 2 weeks then I had a huge bleed out with clots - this was also around my period time then over the next week it taped down and one day stopped where I didn’t have to wear a pad I was like “finally the end” no 2 days later bright red blood again.  I called dr and they are telling me this could go on for 3 months .  I’ve read all the articles but I never read the final outcome - does the bleeding really end or does it lead to having a hysterectomy- any similar comments appreciated - I’m at wits end with this alread it has effected my quality of life

Sorry to hear that😲. I had my first period after an open myomectomy last Saturday had heavy bleeding Sunday than light bleeding and some days no period. I'm praying that my periods won't get heavier. Maybe after a couple months they'll be lighter🤔🙏🏾🙏🏾.

Hi, there. Sorry to hear you've had a tough time since the surgery. I just had my second open myomectomy a week ago (first one was in 2010), so I just wanted to encourage you to hang in there and not loose hope.

I know it feels like the surgery should have sorted everything out once and for all so that life goes back to normal. However, it can take a few months for the body to re-adjust, which means bleeding and periods can be erratic for a while. I got my period 2 days before my surgery and now I'm on day 10 and still have my period, which is longer than when I had fibroids!

BUT I remember after my first myomectomy things did eventually go back to normal so I'm being optimistic and patient with my body as it figures out the right balance again.

Stay strong and I hope it gets better for you soon. x
