    Hi kayla35916,

I hope you are doing well post surgery and starting to recover. I had my open myomectomy in Jan but didn't have a period until 5 weeks post surgery but I think this was due to the zoladex injection I was given prior to surgery to help shrink the fibriods. I would advise contacting the hospital/surgeon for advice especially as you were released from hospital the day after surgery.

They do say you can bleed alot after surgery but that wasn't the case for me but to be on the safe side, just call and ask for advice. My hospital called me two days after being released from hospital to check in.

You'll get there and I hope the recovery goes well for you.

It has been 7 days since my open myomectomy and I am in less pain but it feels like a pulled muscle near my bikini cut. Did you experience any weird pains during healing?

Glad to hear that you are in less pain. It does get easier. In regards to weird pains...100% had them. I was feeling pains deep inside where the fibriods were before, pain urinating as my fibriods were pressing on my bladder for a long time, a burning sensation where my cut was as it starts to heal (this was the most irritating pain of all as this would keep me awake at night) and shooting pains deep inside. The only way I can describe it, is like feeling electric shocks. I believe this is the nerves healing. Even 4 months post surgery, I get the odd sharp pain.

I promise you it will get better. I watched a lot of Youtube videos about the recovery and you soon begin to realise what you are feeling is normal as other went through it too. I would definitely advise checking it out if that is your kind of thing.

Hi it really normal for your first two period to be heavy and painful as the incision heals inside and debri from operation comes away. keep an eye on it . Follow instructions given and expectations from hospital. Be gentle with yourself no heavy lifting size kettle for 8 weeks and if you soaking pads more than an hour seek A and E . Hope this helps.....

    Hello there,

Thanks for sharing, this was my experience after my procedure, last year february, my first period was hard, lasted for 10 days, at times painful, if I remember. The periods, were more vibrant, colourful and I had clots, I do believe it depends on the number of fibroids that were removed. I had a range of 25 -30 fibroids removed, but I still have 2% left inside me. If they had removed the full 100% I would have had a hysterectomy, which I did not agree too. Over a year on, my periods, are still colourful and vibrant, but I am 7 days of a period. No Pain, before or after. I do believe that I still have a lot inside of me, which is affecting me conceiving but I am happy I am no longer in pain or agony.

I can't wait until the pain is gone. Today I am just kind of upset because I can't get up and do anything. If i do the pain comes hard and fast. i know it has only been 5 days since the surgery but it's just defeating. i had 1 fibroid removed, it was the size of a tennis ball.

Please whether you have 1, 2 or 10 or 100 fibroids removed DO NOT RUSH YOUR RECOVERY! your body needs to heal by itself, I had two months off work...please continue to reach out here on this platform ok? xx

did your abdominal muscles ever feel like they're just pulling? its like there is so much tension on them. It's been 8 days and I'm just freaking out thinking something is wrong.

Be kind to yourself ,let go of what you cant control and embrace rest and help of others. It takes a while after surgery and its ok. please make sure you dont push yourself to early because you can strain and cause things not to heal properly. Do take pain relief etc as you need.

Praying for you . also the first week is really emotional and anathetic is working its way out of the system . drink plenty rest plenty and BE KIND TO YOURSELF 🤗💖💖
