Mysterious beard rash

Posted , 2 users are following.

I shaved last night due to my face feeling a bit dry and when I did I saw this. I haven't kissed anybody since January and I have not really washed my face in a while either. I also suffer from eczema. What does it look like? There is no itching or oozing, just a bit irritated from before and after the shave.

Cant be sure but it looks like Seborrhoeic dermatitis.Keep the beard short and close by clipping and try not to shave for a while. Get some dandruff shampoo with Ketoconazole as the active ingredient and use that on your face on alternate days. Lather up well and leave it for 2 minutes then wash off thoroughly. Use it on your hair as well. There is a shampoo called Nizoral which fits the bill. If you are in UK its easily available but dont know its availability elsewhere. If this makes the rash worse then stop straightaway.

If the shampoo doesnt work or makes it worse then get a 1% hydrocortisone cream from chemist/pharmacy and try that . If that doesnt help at all you should see your doctor.

thank you for the response! I will do that. Ive already put some aloe vera on it and it has calmed it down overnight. I think it was the not washing of the face that caused this to happen.
