Mystery - Colonoscopy what is going on?

Posted , 3 users are following.

March. 2017 due to change in bowel habits and some blood on toilet paper i underwent a colonoscopy.

It was all clear, one biopsy taken as random biopsy all clear, no polyps and doctor says your colon looks perfect! just more fiber.

Fast Foward August 2017, I go for CT scan and CT scan identifies Uncomplicated Diverticulosis on the left colon? What's going on here in a few months I developed Diverticulosis?

Anyone ever had something like this?

A low-fiber diet can cause problems such as constipation. With constipation, more pressure is needed to pass your stool. Doctors believe that increased colon pressure can lead to the development of diverticula. Diverticulitis occurs when fecal matter lodges in the diverticula and causes infections. Per internet search

Sounds like either the colonoscopy  missed it or the CT scan has got it wrong. It may be a question of interpretation and whereas colonoscopy is good and thought more accurate than other tests of the gut as I understand it,  it is not one hundred per cent accurate. I'm not sure how accurate a CT scan is by comparison. I might ask a third specialist to review your film from both tests - I agree with you that it is highly unlikely you developed dvt in such a short period of time. If you had had a colonoscopy so soon before, why were you having a CT scan? Was there some doubt about the colonoscopy?

Reason for the CT scan was that I had continuous pain and change in bowel habits. Specifically wanted to check out the liver and pancreas and other digestive parts and Diverticulosis popped up on the scan which was strange. When the guy doing the colonoscopy said my colon was "Perfect" gee. Maybe CT misdiagnosed some kind of colitis?

I am having a repeated colonoscopy, as I am not doubting the colonoscopy. I will ask for scans of the film.

I think you are sensible to have another one. It's very irritating but you need to get it straight.
