mystery illness. Digestive issues/Brain fog

Hello,

Last October i had really bad digestive issues. Bloating/constipation and gas. I tried every single over the counter remedy, and nothing worked. Fast forward to December, and i found out i was pregnant. I started to feel a bit spaced out, it felt like i was extremely high. It would come and go, along with some headaches every couple of days, which with a little tylenol would be gone. This went away after a few weeks, and then a week later i miscarried. I did not feel spaced out, or have the headaches again until about 3 week later, and now the spaced out feeling is 24/7 from when i wake up to when i go to bed for the past 4 months.

I am certain that these issues have some link to digestive problems, because the spaced out feeling gets worse when i eat sugar/carbs. I have been to a gastro who did some stool samples, and the only thing that came back was yeast overgrowth in stool. He gave me nystatin for 10 days, and it didn't do anything except make me a little more regular with my bowel movements. He wanted to do a colonoscopy, but i have put that on hold because i don't want to go under anesthesia with my head feeling this way. Other symptoms i am experiencing:

Extreme light sensitivity

Heartburn only after "bad" foods

Bloating

Constipation

Stomach pressure

Itchy ears/nose

Post nasal drip

Itching/red vagina (although yeast test from pap came back negative)

urgency/frequency urination (microscopic blood found in urine)

Undigested food in stools

White tissue bits in urine and stool

Yellow nut looking things in stool sometimes without consuming nuts

I have had a ct scan of the head which was normal, and have been tested for celiac twice. I also read about yeast overgrowth issues seems my gastro found overgrowth in my stool. I saw a doctor who deals with yeast overgrowth who has given me nystatin and diflucan to try. I am giving it a go, but i am 3 weeks into treatment now with 0 improvement. Could you possibly recommend what testing i should have done based off of my symptoms? I feel helpless right now and need some guidance. Sometimes i just feel like i would be more at peace not living, because this is no life. I am not saying i am going to do anything, but this is making me severely depressed. I am posting in this forum because it is the closest thing to digestive issues

    Poor you! ...Emzie!

Don't despair! It sounds like your food is staying too long in your digestive tract and 'rotting'.

It seems that we are all programmed to think that medicine is THE best thing for every condition...when LIFESTYLE is THE best route to better health.

The gut is the body's second brain...so it makes sense that you feel brain fog with digestive issues. The two are connected.

Take care of your colon: drink water, eat plenty of fresh veggies and fruits, drink low sodium vegetable juice (carrot/beets are good) , keep regular by taking psyllium in water every afternoon, avoid rice, tea, underripe bananas, dairy products which cause constipation.Get rid of cookies, crisps and any sugary and fatty food in the house. You may fill a whole rubbish bin full!... Dairy could be your main issue. I cannot eat any dairy; cheese, milk, cream, etc.. I strongly suggest that the following be eliminated from your diet including dairy..for a few weeks: all WHITE carbs; bread, potatoes, pasta, cereals and of course no sugars of any kind. That means for your meals you eat for example: Breakfast:  a fruit smoothie made with fruit and almond milk with 1 TBSP of vegetarian protein powder (no dairy) mixed into it. For lunch a big, healthy, crunchy salad of lettuce (not iceberg!), hard boiled eggs, radishes, caulflower and red pepper bits, celery and a nice garlic dressing. Mmmmm! For dinner chicken and broccoli and a salad . Your colon will thank you! If you are overweight, there's part of your problem. You are eating too

Btw you don't need an anaesthetic for a colonoscopy. You don't even really need a sedative. It's only unpleasant, nothing more. And a bonus, there's no exposure to radiation.

Just think logicially. What do your bowels want? Fresh food, and to pass through with regularity. Very important: Drink plenty of water...especially in the summer time. And remember for every cup of coffee or tea, you need to drink two...because coffee and tea are diuretics. One cup gets rid of a cup of fluid in your body. Better to keep away from coffee and tea as well as dairy and carbs until your bowels give you permission to re-introduce them. And maybe you will be happy on the new healthy diet.

sad   It's awful that you feel that way. I agree with he post below being a bit of a lifestyle change.  I had 'general malise' where I was feeling lethargic heaachy and bloatyand my bowel movements were 'off' - ( i remember yellow nut things!).  I didn't think it was really severe enough to seek help and anyway I tend to shy away from all the drug remedies if I can, so I went 'herbal' and now have a daily tonic which I believe has changed my life around.  I am more aware of my nutrition too, though don'r pretend to be an expert! Maybe your lifestyle is worth looking at? I'd happily chat more about the changes I made, but I suppose here is not the place really.
