Mystery pelvic pains in female

Posted , 4 users are following.

Have had long term chronic intermittent mid pelvic pain, discomfort and bloating.  The bloating usually starts later in the day and worsens as the day goes on and the feeling of pressure increases in the same manner.  At times bending over was difficult as the feeling of fullness and pressure was worse than being pregnant. Sometimes when sitting it felt like something was stuck in my uterus like a lemon. A lot of times there seems to be no connection to menstrual cycle but at times symptoms worsened during it or just a coincidence. Sometimes it has helped to empty my bladder. In the past had a variety of strange neurological symptoms in groin and legs for months but currently very little to none.

A couple years ago found a hemorrhagic cyst with debris in right ovary. Doctor said no big deal, all woman get this, so I didn't have another ultrasound or follow up.I was checked by gyn for prolapse but nothing found.

Recently had another ultrasound with a cyst on right ovary but again another doctor, no big deal, and it shouldn't be causing your symptoms.

I have personally considered that these symptoms may be bladder related. - Like cystitis, urinary retention, etc.. I also wonder if it comes from a pelvic nerve disorder of some type. Or SI joint or pelvic disfunction. I do have occasional hip pain and SI joint type pains but nothing serious or disabling. Or if it could be pelvic congestion. I do have varicose veins in my legs. Or some type of peri-menopause thing as I am in mid 40s.

I don't know where to go from here and it seems that the internet is a better source of info  than the doctors who don't ask enough questions or educate me and are not very thorough.

It seems they are quick to order tests but no conversation ( takes too much of their time ). Any info on this or personal experiences, symptoms and findings would be appreciated.

Hi, Juliann! I'm sorry for your difficulties and hope you find answers and relief soon. Have any of your doctors suggested endometriosis or interstitial cystitis? Do you have any gastrointestinal symptoms? That could also mean endo but maybe even IBS, IBD or colitis. Pelvic floor dysfunction might be possible if you're having incontinence or sexual discomfort.

Hi, I think you should ask for a referral to a gynaecologist if you're in UK. You can insist if you're worried or ask the doctor to make a private referral with the gynae of your choice. (If you can afford £100-300 It depends how high up the consultant is what they charge for this). One who specialises in ovarian cysts as well as prolapse problems, (Urogynaecologist). Did you have any blood tests? ie; CA125. Good luck, Poll X rolleyes

I've had something similar ever since my miscarriage five months ago. In retrospect it may even have started during the pregnancy.

It seems to come from the uterus. Sometimes it feels like there's something in there, and I sort of avoid leaning forward or raising my legs as this seems to increase the pressure. Sometimes it aches. Sometimes the nerves just seem really sensitive and even just touching the skin of the pelvis feels uncomfortable. Putting pressure on the uterus is uncomfortable and I tend to have rebound tenderness. Sometimes it feels like there's something right behind the pubic bone. My legs fizz on occasion.

I'm getting no answers either, and I hate it. I seem to have been getting ovarian cysts since the miscarriage too, but they always seem to resolve themselves. I have no idea if it's connected.

Sometimes it seems like my pelvic floor, or maybe my uterus, just contracts randomly. It doesn't hurt, but I can feel it. These strange sensations and discomfort are driving me crazy!

My periods, while regular, are... strange. Days of spotting beforehand, then a day of just clots, then a few days of red, gushing blood. But it only really comes out when I push!

I've considered many of the same diagnoses as you, but I have no clue.
