I have had hsv for a few years but havent had any out breaks. I have been seeing this guy for a few weeks and i had told him before hand that I have it and he seems understanding but still worried. Im just wondering what i could do to help myself and him. Also i have never told my family... I feel they wont understand though. I have been feeling ups and downs to from this also.

If you have never had any outbreaks, how were you diagnosed? The blood tests are not the most accurate depending on the test type/kit used and other factors. Also, which HSV type do you have? Type matters. If you truly have it, and it's HSV2, there are meds you can take daily to reduce viral shedding and thus ransmission.

Should I get checked out again at the doctors? Is that what you think I should do?

If you are sure it's HSV1, there's no need to retest. But being positive by blood alone just means that you carry the virus *somewhere*, and if you've never had symptoms genitally, the odds are that you carry it orally, which is the preferred site for HSV1. Many people do and most don't get cold sores. It's only a minority who do. So, you may not have "genital" herpes after all.

I told my family they support me, because it's not something you were born with or get on purpose. My partner understands surprisingly and has been willing to take precautions during sexual interaction.
