Naftopidil, Tamsulosin, and Alfuzosin - Effectiveness and side effects between

I'm trying to find a medication for BPH that is the most effective with the least side effects. tamsulosin is renowned for sexual side effects as well as possible eye complications. I tried alfuzosin, it doesn't seem to have many side effects though it doesn't seem very effective.

There isn't any, as your comment on Alfuzosin suggests. Don't delay, have a battery of urology tests to understand exactly what your problem is and then act upon it before your bladder gives up. That means a physical intervention.

I am on Doxasozin 2mg twice per day since September, very effective for my BPH and blood pressure with little of the side effects, and none of the sexual ones. I accept though that it will cause floppy iris syndrome as will the other alpha-blocker medication.

Your best option is to have analysis done and find the option that best suits you. Find a good urologist with whom you feel comfortable and plan for the best alternative with the least side effects. Medication can be a start, healthy diet can help also some. Best of luck!

    Hi Johnny,

I used tamsulosin for quite a while, and had terrible nasal congestion side effects. A possible substitute is daily Cialis. I used for a short while and tolerated it better. Then had a PAE, no need any more for meds. Daily Cialis is expensive, but there has been talk of there being a generic or possibly OTC sometime soon (?), so that would drop the price.

I have been on Tamsulosin (not mentioned here) but after 5 weeks gave me muscle problems in the legs and started to have difficulty walking. Stopped those and even after 3 months the hamstring in left leg is still complaining and I do wonder if it is permanent! The Dr has given me Finasteride and wonder if anyone knows of any similar complications (I am sensitive to Statins and can't take those). Thanks.
