Yes, I have a similar  problem.  I took first Nalmefend Friday then took Nalmefene Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday last week so was hoping I was getting into a routine but now have a chest infection and did not take Friday, Saturday and Sunday (today) as with my chest infection symptoms I did not feel like drinking.  Going to Doctor tomorrow - expect antibiotics - wondering whether missing Nalmefene for this time will give me problems?  I was hoping I was off and getting into a routine.

On average, it takes about a week worth of taking Nalmefene for the body to get accustomed to it. If you took it every 3 days, it would take about 21 days, so regard it as number of tablets taken rather than length of time taking it.

Some people, however, just don't get the side effects badly enough for it to bother them and they are the lucky ones.

I do agree with this Paul.

Your body needs to get adapted to Selingro.

To get accustomed, you need about a weekly dosis. (I did way to much(every day for 2 months))

My experience now (after 3 months) is that taking Selingro every three day's or so, is largely sufficiant to keep the drinking in reasonable limits.

I do not keep the one hour before intake.

      Thanks, Paul and escargot

Your advice and encouragement has been so useful and reassuring especially as I have not been able to get into a regular routine as quickly as I would have hoped.  I have now taken 7 tablets Nalmefene tablets over a 13 day period.  Had hoped to have taken more but chest infection has slowed me down.  Still feel a numbness after taking Nalmefene but hope that this will gradually go.  On day 4 of 7 of antibiotics for chest so hoping to establish greater Nalmefene regularity shortly.

Doctor's appointment next week to, I hope, get continuing supply of Nalmefene.  I had been attending local psycho-social support for 4 or 5 weeks then signed off.  The following week I finally got Nalmefene and they do not want me to resume.  They have not supported anyone on Nalmefene so this may be the reason.  I am hoping doctor does not see non-support as a problem. I am her first Nalmefene patient.  I will, of course, mention the support on this forum.

Hey to you Davy, your comment on the lack of support does't surprise me one little bit. I called my counsellor 5 weeks ago to tell him what I had learned from the good people on here and no call back.

Maybe he and his colleques fear for their jobs if all their patients find other ways to help themselves.

I can't get Nalmefene in Canada, but I have also heard many good thinges about Kudzu Root extract.

I made an order from a company in Florida. The order is for a two month supply at a cost of $21.45 US dollars.

It is a herb so shouldn't affect your antibiotic usage. Ask your DR to make sure, OK?

2 hours after my first tablet I had an almost uncontrollable urge to harm my 2 adored cats, who were doing nothing except waiting for dinner.  This feeling was completely out of character and extremely frightening.  I managed to feed the pets and walk away but what if I were a single mother with a screaming child?  Has anyone else had feelings of rage like this?  I didn't sleep and was an absolutely nightmare at work the next morning (although able to do the work, but terribly grumpy).  I've bought Selincro on the internet, supported by a web-based motivational course, because I was embarrassed to go to my GP but am now too scared to continue treatment, so will have to go to the GP and 'fess up in order to put my mind at rest.

Don't buy medication online. You may not even have what you thought you were ordering. That sounds nothing like a side-effect of Nalmefene. Don't take anymore and DO see your GP and ask for a prescription for Nalmefene.
