Hi h1954,,, I really think that you need to see your gp ASAP...if this is not possible, and you still feel the same later....or at the very, very latest tommorow, I think you should go straight to your nearest accident and emergency dept...I wish you well, please take care...Deirdre xxx

Thanks, Deirdre, I will be seeing my GP, I have a history of dizziness, and I think maybe the nalmefene has set it off again. Thanks for your concern.

You say you have a history of dizziness, do you know what caused this or better still, what did you do to relieve the symptom?

I have had horrible days of feeling like I'm about to fall over...on my non-drinking days I try my best to keep hydrated with energy drinks or just water, as drinking alcohol does not replenish vital fluids.

Hi, Tim, no my dizziness was undiagnosed after extensive tests, the only cause which was neither proved nor disproved was migraine associated vertigo and no medication I was given helped, it just got sort of better. Sounds like you get the same side effects. Are you continuing to take nalfemene? I'm not, I'd rather battle the cravings than have these side effects. Best wishes to you

Hi back to you, I live in Canada and Nalmefene isn't approved here yet. So I tried Campral for a few months. It did improve my balance (somewhat)  but not the cravings...so, am on Naltrexone which does give some side effects. I'm not too pleased with it either. Have to just keep on trying till I find something that will work. If you follow these posts, the encouragement is tremendous.

My research suggests it might be a problem in the brain associated with the function of nerotransmitters. It might also be from dehydration while drinking. My shrink couldn't answer my questions about this - he says I proballiy need to see a specialist...or get an MRI done.

See your DR and ask for Campral or whatever to stabilize those electrical signals that are shorting out.

      Good luck to you biggrin

Yes apparently you have to go through this ordeal in order for your body to get used to it I'm going to take my first tablet tomorrow I took one last Friday and felt terrible but didn't take another and off one nalfemene I couldn't drive for a week
