Nalmefene and effects on weight and lifestyle

Hi all,
I'm hoping to get some shared experiences of people using nalmefene. I've been drinking heavily for around 15 years and have tried various therapies with limited affect. I recently came across the sinclair method and am currently keeping a 2 week alcohol diary before starting treatment. It already looks horrendous after just a few days and with lockdown and work stress my drinking has become more problematic.
Coupled with my drinking i've always fallen into the trap of over eating. As lots of people have ive gained considerable weight over the past year and i've read various information about nalmefene helping to curb not only drinking but binge eating. I wondered if anyone taking it had noticed any changes in their diet or how they get pleasure from food or other areas of their life whilst using this drug. My hope is by curbing the drinking the binge eating will follow bit any experiences or advice shared would be hugely welcome.
Thanks in advance

Welcome Samuel. Have you tried The C3Foundation? They know exactly what to do with TSM. I cannot give any advice on medicine since i stopped cold sober without any medication 8 years ago. This is not advisable and can be really dangerous. Check out The C3Foundation! Best of luck. Robin.

Hello Samuel, i have never seen this forum this quiet. I replied 5 days ago and nobody else. This a shame and i have been a member for nearly six years and it has never been this quiet. i put on weight when i stopped drinking 8 years ago. Not easy to loose weight. Best of luck to you and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you! Regards Robin

Hi Robin, thank you for taking the time to respond to me its greatly appreciated. I've just finished my 2 week diary ahead of starting nalmefene and awaiting my doctors advice. As is the way in the run up to Christmas im surrounded by alcohol and food and i can really feel its taking its toll on me. I'm going to enjoy my Christmas as best as possible and im looking forward to trying this medication asap. I am one of those drinkers that can never have just one, its usually 3 beers minimum per day so i'm really hoping it works for me. I have a bit anxious about possible side effects but have read these largely settle down i most people pretty quickly.
Congratulations on 8 years of sobriety, I bet you look and feel like a different person. I've read that for a lot of people quitting alcohol needs to be replaced with something (be it relaxation, exercise). I'm hoping to do both and really get on track for the new year. i'll post again about how im getting on. Fingers crossed.
In the meantime i hope you manage to have an enjoyable christmas and new year.
