Nasa Touch Sinus Irrigation Device

My doctor prescribed some compound solutions to use in a Nasa Touch atomizer. Has anyone had any experience with this or other nebulizer like devices for sinus medication delivery? I'm currently using the Neil Med bottle to squirt another compound up there, but it seems ineffective since it's a liquid and just runs out. I hope this will be better. Any thoughts are welcome!

I have. What is the medicine you're using and for what problem?  I didn't find it effective for me personally.  I had a fungal sinus infection and the only thing that got rid of it after 5 years of trying everything in the book, was compounded Amphotericin B nasal spray.

How did they determine and what type of fungal infection ? Mine didn't show up on a scan but it gave me horrible sinus infection symptoms for years. What are your symptoms ?

so I was using the nebulizer with the anti inflammatory medicine in and i guess since I still had that fungal infection wreaking havoc, it was not effective for me.  But definitely try it.

Hi ritz, how did they determine that you have a horrible sinus fungal infection?  I used compounded Amphotericin B nasal spray and feel like it

cured my issue. I havent had a sinus infection since I used it over 5 months ago, and before using it, it was every 2 to 3 months like clockwork.

They determined it at the time of my surgery, they wrote on my paper also that i had fungal infection, and during surgery remove some small little stone type thing having fungus on it, the compound you are using, dont have any side effect?

It's going to be Acelcystine and Butosemide (?) This is for chronic sinusitis. I had the surgery already and now need to keep things open and not allow inflammation to take over and cause more infections. I can't imagine having a fungal sinus infection for 5 years. You didn't have it surgically treated? Sometimes this condition is very frustrating for the patient and probably for the doctor as well.

I lived in a house for 2 years that had a horrible water leak and mold problem behind the walls . It caused me to be sick with chronic sinus infections for 5 years. Drs gave me the usual diagnosis and antibiotics and anti inflammatoriesz But it always came back within 2 months. For 5 years. Until someone led me to using Amphotericin b compounded nasal spray. I wasn't a candidate for surgery because nothing showed up on my catscan. But the amphotericin b is a strong antifungal and killed what was up in nose/sinuses because it all came out. Gross ! But haven't been sick since. What is causing your inflammation ? Fungal infection was causing mine .

It seems it may be caused by allergies and I have started getting allergy injections for some very strong reactions to various things. I'm so glad you found a solution to your issue! That had to be a very difficult time for you.

My Drs thought it was allergies too. I was having these horrible inflammatory reactions to everything ! This all happened only after I lived in that moldy house. No dr told me I had a fungal infection due to the moldy house. They all said allergies . Have you ever lived in a moldy house , workplace or environment ?

After Superstorm Sandy we did a lot of clean up in the area that was hard hit,  so there was some exposure to mold but not in the house where I live Still, it did seem to start after that, however my cultures don't show fungus. I get my atomizer today so I'll see how that works and post again in a few days. Now I'm wishing my MD has prescribed the medication you took, just to cover the bases.

I live close to you then in New Jersey ?My Drs wouldn't even do culture because they're unreliable .And nothing showed up on a catscan. So how does your dr knows the worst kind of fungus ? What are your symptoms ? Nobody could tell me what was going on with me yet I had chronic inflammation in nose and sinuses, chronic infections, needed strong antibiotics and anti inflammatories and it works calm things down for 2 or 3 months and then would start up again . I also had horrible chemical sensitivity to every smell.. The whole thing was a living hell .. Now i feel like I'm on the road to recovery erg and haven't been sick in almost 6 months since getting the green slime out of my nose/sinuses. Drs are clueless

It's not me with the 'worst kind of fungus' it's 'ritzpandey'. However, before my first surgery, my CT scan was strongly suspicious for fungus and that's why I had that surgery. On surgical culture, it turned out not to be fungal after all.

It looks to me on my thread that it came fegou and not ritzpandy. Strange

ok, so did your sinus symptoms start after Hurricane Sandy?   The fungal infection I had did not show up either.   I still don't have a dr to even confirm it, even though I used the antifungal spray and the green slime came out for 3 days. I have no idea where in my nose it was residing, but it wreaked some serious havoc. It doesn't matter if the cultures show it or not. My drs wouldn't even do cultures because they said they're not reliable. The Mayo Clinic did a large study and determined that 90% of chronic sinus infections are fungal. Doctors are not knowledgable about it. I went to many specialists and they told me it was allergies.   I tried the antifungal spray as a last resort because nothing else helped and I tried everything.

I'm not certain about the Sandy timing but I know it didn't help. I'm now on the Nasa-touch and so far I like it better than the Neil-Med for putting the meds in. I hope this and my allergy shots will keep me healthy!
