Nasal catarrh causing ear infections, vertigo and tinnitus

Hi all, this will be my first posting on this subject, which first began 15 months ago, following a simple cold. At first it was just the nasal catarrh, which although it was a nuisance, did not cause me too much of a problem., I could live with that Then came the blocked Eustachian tube on my right side, (I am normally deaf anyway on the left side) so then I had lost my hearing completely. I visited my GP who suggested warm olive oil in the ears three time a day for two weeks, plus chewing gum - that actually worked for a while, my hearing was returned in my good ear, great. But about a week later the hearing was lost once more, and then about a month following that I experience a sudden attack of spinning vertigo, (but vertigo I knew all about, as for a period of about 10 years I had suffered with what was thought to be Menier's disease, (an ENT consultant's opinion). I visited my GP once again (not the same GP, it's a large practice) and after a short consultation was prescribed a steroid nasal spay which I use twice a day, and Stemetil tablets for the giddiness. (I stopped the tablets after two weeks as they seemed to make matters worse). All along the nasal catarrh kept up it's continual annoyance, often waking me at night as I tried to cough and then suddenly feeling as if I was about to choke to death from being unable to get my breath, (really frightening that). Then, just to make matters even worse, along came the tinnitus, a loud continuous hissing sound that occupies the whole of my head all my waking hours, plus the constant sound of heart beating in my ear on the left side. Now I sit at home, (fortunately I am retired), feeling very dismal, waiting for something to change, but all the time think that from what I have read that it could go on like this for a very long time. I just wondered, does any fellow sufferer have any advice for me. From what I have read from the NHS ENT site online not a lot can be done, but one lives in hope! Mr MAC - not Mrs MAC this time.

Sorry, I should have said at the beginning of that posting that I am Mr MAC, my wife also posts on this forum, although a different subject. Oh, and I should also have added, at least the dizziness did clear up, so that was something on the positive side, it's just this nasal catarrh and the frustrating tinnitus.
