Nattokinase

Dear All,
I was wondering if anyone with a history of DVT/PE has any experience of Nattokinase as either a substitute or complimentary anticoagulant?
Regards

Hi Nigel,
I was looking into taking nattokinase after my PE, it was difficult to find it in supplement form, to be honest it did not look appetising in it's natural form. It was my first choice when searching for a natural anticoagulant. My GP advised ginger root made into a drink, after I refused warfarin after explaining apixaban had made me ill and I was no longer taking it.
As I could not find nattokinase supplements, I settled on bromelain which is also a anticoagulant, along with the ginger root tea, plenty of water, I do check my food and other supplements to make sure they help with blood flow, exercise is very important to me and I try not sit sit too long without walking around every hour at night,
The P.E is something that near leaves my thoughts.

Hi Jen,
Many thanks for sharing.
I am not confident in substituting Apixaban for any of the natural anticoagulants. Having had four DVT's and three PE's, I simply am not brave enough!
I have discovered that it is not advisable to take Nattokinase alongside Apixaban due to the risk of an internal bleed.
Good luck with everything! x

Different things work for different people. Its good to be positive and always discuss with your doctor about options.
