Natural Blood Thinners!

Posted , 5 users are following.

Uggh! Update: Doc took me off of Eliquis because my menstrual cycle is lasting toi long and he believes its because of the Eliquis. He switched me to 325mg enteric aspirin. I explained to him prior to him switching me that my stomach is sensitive to aspirin due to a small ulcer. He then tells me if I take it with omeprozole that I should be fine...well low and behold, 2 days later and my stomach is hurting. Anyone have experience with natural blood thinners? Will natural blood thinners be enough on their own?

    Hi Jaylee

WOW that is a high dose of aspirin, all I can tell you is I have sufffered with gastric problems for a long time, I did a lot of research into all of the blood thinners available and spoke to several clinicians about them. after much soul searching I decided its better the one you know and I stayed on warfarin and only experiencing occasional gut problems my GP gave me Lansoprazole which is similar to omeprazole but supposedly more effective.

      Hi Linda,

Yeah absolutely can not tolerate the aspirin. Now he wants me to try Plavix. I dnt know much about that drug and I dnt want to keep being put on and taken off of prescription blood thinners because its dangerous and causing my period to last longer than usual.

I take Eliquis and have been fine, prior to this I had Rivaroxaban which caused me to bring up blood. No tummy problems now thankfully.

Hi Jaylee. I was on Eliquis and was only taking half the dose due to heavy periods and other bleeding. My cardiologist ended up saying to only take it when l was actually in AF as l was at low risk for a stroke due to my age (lm 52).

      Hi Robyn,

Yes I suffer feom long periods thats why he took me off of the Eliquis. I spoke to him yesterday about the stomach issues because of the aspirin and he said that he may want to put me on Plavix...I just hate this yo yo effect. I feel like he is just suggesting anything at this point. Thats why I was considering trying the all natural route. He also said I am low risk for a stroke because of my age (33).

Natural blood thinners is a dangerous topic because there are so many variable.  For example, if a person is a non-smoker, not drinker, non-obese otherwise healthy persion with no cardiac abnormalities and a very low CHAD score then, 325mg aspirin, turmeric, black pepper, cayenne, raw garlic, vitamin e (400mg daily) avocadoes, raw almonds, ginger, olive oil... will all work to thin the blood. There are warnings that combining these items with coumadin could be dangerous becuase they really do work.  Combined with light to moderate exercise this regime will really make you feel better, reduce cholesterol and blood pressure and help to normalize heart rhythm... FOR SOME PEOPLE.   If you go this route you should be monitored by a caring physician (not a naturopath) but a bona fide MD, who is able to be there in case you do need a chemical intervention. Anyways: my 2 cents.  Afib can be caused by so many things, and people are really different.. Good luck on your journey--CDM
