natural methods of solving BPH issues

HI all

I have had some success with urinary urgency and night time trips to the toilet with saw palmetto, selenium and beta sterinol (sp) and other herbal rememdies. I am 60 yrs old and have a very big prostate 190 gms. I never have had to have a catheter. I am looking at Simple robotic prostasis or PAE to solve the problems I am experiencing.  I want to ask the group has anyone used other herbal remedies with success or used a prostate massage to help with prostate issues.

To be honest I do not want to do either of the surgical procedures- prostasis causes retrograde ejaculation and there can be other complications  -reduction of prostate would be 75% I was told and recovery time 4-6 weeks- no lifting and no sex but BPH issues resolved for 25 years,  PAE few complications unless wrong artery is blocked, reduction 20-45% has been documented, up to 6 years releif from BPH issues documented to date in Europe.

I would prefer PAE but it is not covered by insurance as of today  and closest provider is long plane ride away and Prostasis is covered by my insurance.

So I am thinking of using more natural methods specifically the massager, but want to know if anyone has had success.

Thanks for any replies

Does youro insurance cover Rezum? Can you get it done without a plane ride? It does pretty much the same thing as PAE - a bit more uncomfortable and a short stinit with a cath (foley or self) but way less invasive than any kind of surgery with many fewer potential complications

Yes i went to Doctor for that and he said that my prostate was too big for him to do- he is associated with University Texas SW hospital and according to him Rezum good up to 80 gm- now he is doing research and will go up to 120 gm.  Size of my prostate limits my options, unfortunately- but thanks for the advice

I recently started taking alfuzosin. I had PAE a year ago but the IR was only able to do one side, and the benefits faded away after 10 months. The alfuzosin seems to help, but it is not a panacea. (I am 61) I have taken many herbal supplements over the last 25 years, without much success.  I now take only stinging nettle and pygeum root; I have gotten some benefit from this combination. I have never gotten any benefit from any of the combination supplements on the market.

Took saw palmetto and other herbals for 10 years. It did nothing. Then I went into complete retention and had to have Green Light lazer with a lengthy bloody recovery. After 4 years, urination is at 75% of normal.

The prostate gland swells for different reasons but I believe it

is mostly hormonal imbalance. I have gone to urologists for 20 years

and Never had one do a complete hormone panel ,qualitaitive/quantitative .. No free or bound testostereone-,estrogen-__cortisol-dht-5-alpha reductase, adrenaline and many other androgens numbers.. Its like rust on a bumper, once it starts the tendency is to treat sympton (High dht etc) rather then the cause..Younger men for instance have can have very

high dht levels but no signs of bph..because the hormornal balance is their

to protect. As years go by one maybe estrogen/testoserone ratio becomes

wrong (for that person) then the swelling begins. How a prostate grows

over time determines if and when their will problems. I thnk supplements

and eating right will help depending on the person especially lowering

    saturated fats.

    Good Luck to you all
