Nausea and diarrhea on Zoloft

Posted , 4 users are following.

I started on Zoloft about 6  weeks ago. I am now up to 75mg a day, but have developed slight nausea and diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had a cat scan that was negative.

hi, these problems have come as soon as you went to 75mg?

are you taking your sertraline pill with food?  this is often easier on the stomach for many people, instead of just taking it by itself with water

    Hi Jessie

These are two of the main side effects, basically gastrointestinal . Due to the fact that these meds work on serotonin receptors, of which 20% are in the brain and 80% are in the gut !

These side effects should settle, if you have only just experienced them guess that's because you have inc. the dose. Give it a few weeks and you should find it settles.

I find that when I decreased the dose this happends too, I have recently dropped from 100mg to 50mg, and stomach cramps and nausea and sweating are the main things that troubled me, but after 2 weeks I'm okay again now.

If you don;t feel better ina few weeks go back to your dr, but to be honest these side effects are common to all the SSRIs.
