Nausea and shingles? Deeper pain seems to be spreading?

Edited , 7 users are following.

Hi all

Ive had my shingles rash for around 4 weeks now. Not had them before so unsure if its normal to have symptoms below with it? I know everyones experience can be different but just wondering if anyone else has experienced my symptoms below?

I'm just wondering if nausea is a symptom of shingles? I still have diarrhea, and rash, malaise ? Im bit concerned that even though original pain i had which was bad even if wind touched it, this has improved some, but pain now feels deeper inside and painful - has anyone else had this symptom? Rash is from right side belly button round to where right kidney would be and pain is where appendix would be (had mine out years ago) and seems to go through to where right kidney is, like a knife or poker has gone straight through at an angle? My spine still feels like its been thumped when i walk for a while and I am also now starting to get pain in right buttock?

best wishes, Eve x

    Hi Eve,

As your pain had not resolved, and the acute phase should be ending now, I would see your clinician. It is normal to have accompanying ,symptoms, but as you are still suffering, you should seek further medical attention.

    Are you immunocompromised, or older?

As the shingles is in the abdominal area, one expects the nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

    Best Wishes

    Merry Juliana

    Hi,

Yes, what you are experiencing us normal for shingles. I had shingles in June this year, and just last night feel like its coming back again. 😦 Last time the rash was in my right side, with nerve pain starting out in both sides, and ending up on the right side and my upper back right side. Now it feels like Im having nerve pain in the front if my right thigh, and this morning two tiny bumps popped up, just like when i started to get the rash on my side. I'm praying I don't get anymore bumps turning into a rash, because then I know it will be shingles again. I'm also having some what feels like nerve pain in my buttocks. This is just crazy! Ive been taking L-LYSINE daily since I first got shingles last time to build up my immunity. Not so sure that's working... I also feel somewhat nauseas at times and also have diarrhea from time to time.... all part of it....

Yes, all of that is "normal", although everyone experiences shingles a bit differently, meaning everyone doesn't have all of the same symptoms. I had severe nausea requiring a Phenergan Rx and I took it for several weeks. Also had severe fatigue, which lingered for MONTHS. I'm now almost 2 years out and still sleep like a log every night and never feel refreshed. I could actually just spend my life in bed sleeping. It's a horrible, lingering illness. As soon as my doc said it was ok, I got the Shingrix vaccine. I never want to experience shingles again!
