Nausea started a week after colonoscopy endoscopy

Feeling quite upset sad a week after the procedure I started getting nausea thought it might of been a flu bug that was affecting me - so as I wasn't getting better decided to go in the flagyl as the doctor prescribed when I saw her for the procedure. I thought well as I wasn't feeling good anyway may as well get on them knowing I'd probably feel

Crap with them. Finished them yesterday and today felt so ill on waking - have felt all week like I've got another bug loosish stools inflamed feeling in the stomach and my bowel feels open or inflamed.

I'm hoping I feel this way because I also have started getting sinus and ear congestion which I read last night can make you feel nauseaous.

Throughout my 7 months I hardly ever had nausea with the ibs so this is really upsetting me - I was told after the flagyl if it didn't work I'd have to just stay on the fodmap diet and normafibre.

I just feel so down - thought having the procedure and nothing sinister to report I'd start dealing with it but now this has upset me so much

Have I opened up another can of worms having the procedure?

Did anyone get sick like this after their procedure and will it settle down?

Thanks

I had an endoscopy done 6 days ago and I have been nauseous on and off ever since. This was the 4th one I've had done and the only time I vomited afterwards. I don't think I'd go through this again unless they can guarantee I won't vomit and feel nauseated still a week later

There has only been one colonoscopy but the symptoms are similar to you. For approx. 6 days, was relatively well ( occ. bouts of bloating) but then, after 6 days , the symptoms got way worse. Extreme bloating/pain ( felt like a balloon, worst bloating ever) and no energy, nausea, feelings of anxiety, lost weight , etc. It has been over 6 weeks and now working with a naturopath. On a very bland diet but it seems to help a bit. The problem that I have is......what happened with the colonoscopy ? One thought is that the fluids that you take for the colonoscopy wipe out your guts and then there is an opportunity for bad bacteria and yeast to 'further' invade your intestines. The other reason would be that the Doctor did not do an effective job with the scoping ( i.e it is a aggravation due to the scoping itself). Did your GI specialist have any kind of explanation.

I have been suffering with chronic constipation and gas for over 2 yrs.

My GI ordered a colonoscopy and endoscopy with biopsy.

The procedure was done by general surgeon month ago. A small polyp was removed and then biopsies were done

I have had pain under the rib cage on and off since then. I contacted the surgeon who performed the procedures, and he didn't even wanted to talk to me. He told me I should i go to ER. I was afraid and I went there. They performed a ct scan without contrast ( because i am allergic to the dye) and they didn't see anything wrong. This pain is bugging me so much , I will never do another procedure ever again.

If the surgeon didn't want to speak to you, this may suggest a mistake was made and he doesn't want to admit to it. I would contact him again and insist on a meeting. If you don't get anywhere, make a complaint. I often have complications after medical procedures including my endoscopy. Even a blood test went wrong for me because the health care assistant didn't know what she was doing and I was left with permanent neuralgia. I had to make a complaint about that.

After my endoscopy, I got severe depression within 24 hours because of the sedation; it lasted three weeks. I wouldn't be able able to go through the procedure again either unless certain adjustments could be made for me.

Flagyl can cause nausea and vomiting and the gut/bowel disturbance after the procedures may also have caused it. IBS symptoms can change over time so you can get symptoms that you have not experienced before. You can get nausea with IBS. Stress and anxiety are also key factors.
