Nausea, stomach pain and dizziness- will it ever end?

Hi everyone,

I am 51 and have been peri-menopausal for 5 years now. I am dealing okay with most of the symptoms but recently the hot flashes have become worse and I am so nauseous from noon on. I also feel so weak and headachy and have pain in the middle of my abdomen most of the day. My health anxiety has become debilitating. I am feeling so hopeless and fearful that this is my new normal.

Has anyone had these symptoms

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with all these symptoms. I have many symptoms of perimenopause but am on the younger side so has been a struggle to be heard. I have been experiencing some anxiety, seems to be worse after a period for some reason and is largely about my health so I completely understand how you feel. This seems to be a common debilitating symptom! What are your cycles doing? Do you take HRT? If you are then you may need an increase in your dose? Some ladies need to take medication alongside hrt to feel better. Alternatives may be meditation or cbt therapy. It may be helpful to keep a diary of your symptoms and see if there are times when they are worse or maybe you can spot triggers. Have a good chat with your GP and see what they can offer to help with your symptoms. I have read some herbal remedies can be good for hot flushes. I have seen sage mentioned so maybe something to look at? Always check that a herbal remedy is safe to take alongside any existing medication first. I too have been suffering with nausea, bloating and belching. Never been a problem for me before. If you have had any bowel changes do discuss this with your GP. I try to eat small amounts throughout the day and keep hydrated but it is easier said than done! I try to eat light things or nibble on crackers when it's really bad. Nausea could be linked to the anxiety as well. Headaches in peri are quite common, again this can be helped (or worsened) by hrt, skipped meals and dehydration can contribute to headaches so eating regularly and keeping up with fluids will be helpful. This will pass in time so keep going but in the meantime be kind to yourself and take time out for yourself to relax. Hope this was helpful.
