Near vision with Symfony EDOF lenses

Yesterday I had an interesting experience. Been shopping around for our move and got a few quotes earlier in the week and finally settled on an item. Brought my printed quote with me to the store and sales rep took it to key in my quote number and couldn't read it. Rep was (I believe) younger than myself but old enough to reach for his readers and still couldn't read it. Albeit it the print was in a light grey font and very tiny. Asked me if I could read it out to him so I took back the sheet and was able to read it.
Sometimes we think our near vision isn't good enough and often EDOF lenses aren't touted for best reading vision - better computer distance.
But if we can manage our everyday reading needs we should be happy.
I mentioned to that rep I had had cataract surgery (he looked at me and said I wasn't old enough to need that). Then said he should look into it as he hated having to put on readers. Told him my opinion of CLE and results not never guaranteed.
Anyways this made my day!
Have a good weekend everyone.

lolGuess for a day felt normal. I always wonder if what I see is real (colors etc ) Part of it was living s long while with cataracts - before I knew I had them. After time hoes by you forget what you used to see.

Sue, it's always nice to hear comments like that, isn't it? Something positive as you start the weekend.

It is Derek. Feeling thankful today and wonder why we focus on the negative vs positive.

I see a lady on tram who reads her phone 1-2 inch from her face. Makes me really sad when I see that. I wonder what happened to her.
.
There is another woman in her 30s who used to live on our street and then she must have moved to another part of town as I never saw her again. Then I randomly saw her recently from the tram and she was being taught how to walk with a blind stick 😦
.
Sue, if you had AT Lisa IOL you could have read that quote number with both eyes closed and while doing a triple somersault. AT Lisa's presence alone near the sales rep would have allowed her to read the number 😃

Must be horrible to gradually lose vision. Can't imagine what that would be like.
Well if I was that good at the somersault would have taken up gymnastics!!!!At least made it to America's got talent!

Great note. I finally settled on Symfony for both eyes. [posted several times earlier trying to make a decision. ] After 5 months, the spiderweb and starbursts around bright focused lights are mild and quite manageable-you really do neuroadapt. My near vision has continued to improve with time. I rarely need readers, except for very tiny print on a package insert, or in dim light. I am thrilled with my vision, especially since I was nearsighted -5.5 in both eyes. It is truly a gift.

I am so happy for you! I can relate to the struggle to decide as there are many not so happy on the forums with Symfony lenses. I was always near sighted too. -3.0 and -2.25. Varied a bit over the years but that was my prescription prior to surgeries. Sounds like your results similar to my own. I rarely need glasses. It truly is so nice after wearing glasses since 12.
I too noted significant reduction in glare and the brightness of the concentric circles after several months.
