NECK PAIN HELP

so about two weeks ago, i woke up to severe neck pain on my right side that sort of hurt in my shoulder and down my back a little too. every time i turned my head to the right, i had severe pain. This lasted about two days and the third day it was just slightly sore. I thought it must’ve been me sleeping wrong or something but then out of nowhere I had this severe pain again just today (two weeks later) and it’s worse this time. I can’t move my head to the right without literally tears forming. It feels like a nerve is being crushed but wouldn’t it be more persistent and not stop hurting for two weeks? I’m just confused why this pain is out of nowhere for short periods of time. I’m only 17, and I’ve always complained of back issues so maybe it’s a spinal issue. I’m not sure but please help.

I started to get a very similar neck pain which went down to the inside of my shoulder blade in my early 20s. I found it hard to move my head round too. I used to take anti depressants which gave me bruxism (teeth grinding/ jaw clenching). I then started taking ppi tablets for acid reflux, which also contribute to my bruxism. I found out years later this is what was causing my pain when I got botox for bruxism and the pain started to decrease significantly after a week. I have since found out that botox in your jaw can cause arthritis as it can eat at your bone, so I stopped.

Even if you are not aware of grinding your teeth, you may do it in your sleep. A third of people with bruxism don't realise they suffer with it. You don't need to be on medication to have it either it could be an anxiety thing, particularly as you get the pain in short bursts. Have you been experiencing any anxiety since this all started?
