Neck/Shoulder pain - GP says its neck/vertebbrae

Posted , 2 users are following.

Feels like a really stiff neck. When I turn to one direction the pain shoots down my neck, shoulder, upper arm. Also, my whole shoulder area is sore. Been like this for 8 weeks or so now.

Co-codamol helps a little as does ibuprofen gel.

GP says its neck/vertebrae related. Has also given me naproxen.

IS there anything else I can be doing? Its affecting my work/sleep/ability to drive.

Would proper massage help? Chiropractor? Acupuncture?

Awe really sorry to hear this, i woke with a stiff neck which didn't improve. I tried ibuprofen, co codamol, freeze cream, heat cream etc. It resulted in MRI scan which showed herniated neck discs. This will be 3 years in Oct having this condition. It has radiated down to arm and shoulder. I had physio and massage and accupunture, nothing helped. I have now learnt to live with chronic pain. Its debilitating and gets you down if you are an active person. Dont give in, go back to your gp and ask for help. Good luck.

Hmmm. To be honest the massage does seem to have helped a bit. Interesting...
