Need a good fibromyalgia doc

Hi, I am looking for a good rheumatologist who I can go see who has an interest in Fibromalgia. My last rheumatologist told me I had fibromalgia but it's all in my head and I have it as I am depressed. I did tell him that although I do suffer from depression , the pain and fibro came first, and it was after that I became depressed with re active depression only to be told. I was depressed first , but I had

not recognised the fact. so to see a doctor who understands would be great. I live in Hertfordshire but I am near the M25 on the Essex borders. Any help would be great.

Just a note it would really have to be a NHS service as I now rely on PIP to live but I could if needed afford to pay for 1-2 private appointments if that is the only way

many thanks

soft hugs

Hi Caroline87056 The rheumatologist you saw wasnt much better than mine.Mine said you have fibromyalgia gave me a leaflet said Im discharging back to your gp that was it.For him to say its in your head he wants striking off that unprofessional hes in the wrong profession. My advice would be see what gp surjurys their are in your area and register with another practice. What happens where I live is all the surjurys where I live in telford. have whats called a catchment area. so they will only take people that fall in their catchment areas. I dont know how other parts of the country works things. My advice would be to definitly change to another practice and hopefully find an understandg dr and a rhumatologist with better manners and understanding. You certainly dont have it because of the depression stupid man.shows what he knows about fibro what an idiot. Go on to the nhs site their may be something on their to give advice on what you can do.take care .

    Hi Caroline

I too live in Herts and wonder if we saw the same rheumatologist! Although he didn't tell me to my face its in my head, I got a copy of the letter he sent to my GP and in it it says " I can confirm your diagnosis of Fibromyalgia but as this is a psychological disorder may I suggest you start this lady on a low dose antidepressant" I was so p***ed off by this and now don't want to go to my follow up appt next month.

Hope you find a better Rheumatologist!!

    Gentle Hugs
