Need advice for strange chronic stomach ache.

Hello,

Im a 21 year old slim male who's been suffering from a strange upper adomen sensation for 2 months.

The sensation started off as a sick gnawing stomach feeling every morning, and then would feel quite heavy for the rest of the day. Antacids and emptying my bowels would not cause relief. I first thought it might be anxiety, but i haven't felt stressed out and when ive been distracted, or enjoying myself the pain is still there.

After 2 weeks i went to the doctor who perscribed me with Omerprazole and to take one tablet a day for one month. He assumed what i was experiencing was reflux or gastritis. I was also asked to take a blood test and stool sample incase.

Throughout the month symptoms did not improve with medication, i even dieted incase it was acid aggrivating my stomach. Besides a gnawing heavy feeling in my upper stomach, and serious bloating after large meals i had no other stomach disorder symptoms, no vomit, no heartburn, no unusual stool (diarrhoea, blood), and when i did cheat my diet nothing particularly aggrivated my stomach such as dairy, fizzy drinks or alcohol. There HAS however been a couple days where ive felt a shortness of breath especially when i sit down and im not sure if its related.

As of now ive stopped taking medication and i feel like i have the sensation less, its not painful more heavy and gnawing (similar to the feeling you get from diarrhoea) and some days i barely feel it(which is an improvement because for the first month it was 24/7). Sometimes i feel it relieves when i lie down, and probably worse when i stand.

Finally I got all my tests back negative including h pylori so im very confused at what it could be. My doctor has refered to see a specialist for a camera down me, im really nervous and unsure what options are left that it could be? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thankyou!!

Maybe it is gastritis or silent acid reflux if it is upper abdominal discomfort.  It doesn't sound like IBS.  Maybe try eating little but often and avoid spicy or fatty foods.  Stick to a plain diet.  Maybe the medications you were taking aggravated your symptoms if you are feeling a little better.

Your symptoms sound very much like gastritis. Avoid eating acidic food (tomatoes, garlic, citrus fruits etc.) and drinking caffeine (coffee, tea, carbonated drinks). Sticking with a strict diet also helps a lot.

Can be just stress, anexity has a wicked way I don't think it's cancer only because of your age and stomach cancer is really really rare for someone your age it's actully one of the rariest I believe in that sort of family I,e bowel and pancreatic is more common

But you are doing the right thing and getting a camera only wa my the doctor can no 100percent what it is because cameras don't lie

I think that your Drs idea is probably accurate. Keep following Drs orders and you may feel a bit more comfortable in time.  I hope for the best for you.
