Need advice on Ativan medication

Posted , 4 users are following.

On Tuesday around 1230pm I took half of 1mg ativan for anxiety. Around 8 I started feeling it wear off . I felt kinda hungover out of it and had a headache . That was the only time I took Ativan and I’ve been googling withdrawal symptoms and it says people develop seizures. Can I get a seizure from taking it only once ? I’m scared . If anyone has answers let me know

It's probably unlikely that you're have a seizure after only taking 1 pill.

I was prescribed Ativan too (.5mg) and decided to stop taking it because the list of side effects were things I've been worrying about and causing my anxiety in the first place.

Not saying you shouldn't take it, not a doctor or medical advice etc.

The worst that could happen is you fall asleep. Don't be afraid of it. Just don't abuse it. It's not good for long term treatment as your brain and body develop tolerance to it and you need a higher dose. Don't let the symptoms scare you. It's a cycle that will drive you "nuts". Our bodies react to different things in different ways

I don’t really feel sick from it . My main concern is getting a seizure from the withdrawal but when I googled it it says only people who are on it for a long time can develop seizures. It’s been 2 days since I took it

No. Well I say no but I suppose anything is possible. I say no because I've taken Xanax and Ativan and both have very short (6) hour half life's. I've taken Xanax for 33 years and that's one of it's stated side effects also but I've had zero bad effects from day 1. Maybe you were anxious about taking it? I do that too as I am med phobic.
