Need Advice on Chronic Sinusitis

I've been fighting a chronic sinusitis for over five years. It started as just mild cold symptoms that never went away. No pain. After three years or so I started going to my family doctor about it. She said just stress and put me on antidepressants. A few more years of pushing that something was wrong, basic blood test and an MRI (for MS) eventually showed low vitamin D and a sinusitis. After two rounds of Augmentin, one Cipro, two steriods with no success I was sent to an ENT. The ENT ran me through Cipro than a CT. He did surgery removing practical of my ethmoid sinuses and cleaned out what he could. I was back on Augmentin after surgery. Two weeks after surgery my symptoms started coming back. Went back to the

ENT four times in three months. I didn't return because I wasn't getting anywhere.

I went camping two months later. I was so sick I had to pack up everything early and come home. Saw my family doctor and had an ear infection (first one I ever had). He gave me Augmentin again.

I went back to the family doctor a month later concerned I had strep because I had a sore throat and my cold that didn't seem to go away.

He concluded in was a possible sinus infection, Cipro.

Two weeks later didn't improve. Saw ENT. Extended 3 weeks of Augmentin and steroids. Follow two weeks later. Told he didn't know what else he could do.

I got a second option two weeks later from one of the top ENT doctors in the area. He ran me through Augmentin and did a CT directly after. The CT concluded obstructions and sinusitis. My ENT scheduled Surgery number 2, within two and half weeks of that appointment.

He opened up my sinuses and removed my ethmoid sinuses. He said during surgery once he started opening the blockage pus started oozing out. He gave me Augmentin again, 10 days. I felt so much better after surgery. Two weeks later the pain started coming back. Went in for my third follow yesterday. I complained about pressure in my forehead and around my right eye. Sharp pain in corner of my right eye. Right ear pain and achiness along the right side of my face.

He scoped and said he saw some irritation but no infection. Everything looked to be healing nicely.

I hurt so much. I feel like my forehead is being ate away. I am tired of complaining. I feel like that is all I do.

Oh, I started an antibiotic yesterday, doxycycline. An old prescription from a Quickcare visit. 100mg 2x day for 10 days.

?I am not sure what to do. I am $30,000 into this with no real solutions.

Over seven rounds of Augmentin, Three rounds of Cipro, three plus of steroids in 18 months.

I am 33 years old, no other health issues, and no allergies.

I have had sinus issues following a fractured nose and maybe made worse by some reflux issues and hiatus hernia.

?I'm in the Uk and my GPs told me there was no treatment, never gave me any other than told me to wash out with saline or netipot.

?I cannot give advice as not a medica professional but for me, taking oregano oil capsules was a help. I also had probiotics as I took these with a view to helping my gastro intestinal conditions. And vitamin D as I was low in this too.

?I used an over counter spray with seawater extract and this has also helped. I have heard of people using colloidal siver spray but i have not needed it as things improved to a manageable level.

?I'm sorry that you have been through so much, it sounds like a very complex case. I hope the specialists can help you.

Yes this is a really tough ailment and since the medical profession treats everyone the same while diagnosing things it can get very frustrating since I have been suffering for quite sometime it really is a experiment to see what works. I personally have not found anything that has worked consistently. But the neti pot is a must.

Some people have used oregano oil, evening primrose, grapefruit extract and silver, name a few, that has been used as treatment and have found success

After spending 50 years as a chronic sinusitis sufferer, and many years under treatment by specialists, I discovered a miracle cure for my problem. It was simply a matter of taking one 1000mg capsule of Evening Primrose Oil daily.

I have posted this treatment recently, so most contributors are aware of it. But in case you have not seen my recent posts I repeat some of the essential elements.

Evening Primrose Oil desensitises the nervous system, so that it does not react to normal problems. It is also useful in conjunction with analgesics to overcome other nerve problems.

Try this inexpensive treatment. It works in about 4 hours and is effective for a further 24 hours, so one capsule daily is normally sufficient.

It may not be a miracle cure for your complaint, but it will certainly help you to overcome your problems.

My initial post Sinus Infection-An Effective Treatment on 9-2-2016, gives my  full history.

Best of luck in your search for an effective treatment for your problem.

    Regards Ray.

Hi Raymond, I saw your post before and bought evening primrose oil capsules, I've had them for a week now, no change so far though. I have an obstructed maxillary infundibulum though and waiting for an operation, what brand did you buy? Thanks.

Thank you for trying Evening Primrose Oil .

I usually buy Cenovis brand from the local supermarket, as they are readily available, cheap, and effective. However, I do not really have a preference and other brands are probably equally effective.

      Regards Ray.
