Need advice on what to do about my headaches??

I'm 20 years old & suffer with migraines sad I take stupid amounts of painkillers, even if I feel a little something coming on I take painkillers. I've been on pitzotfen, amatriptlyn, and have now got to try another one (can't remember the name of it) I have been given amogran which make me feel like my throat is swelling up, simtripton, naproxen, dicfolex for pain relief but it doesn't work. I take a lot of codeine as they seem to be the only thing that takes the pain away a little bit, even tho I know that can cause headaches sad Also I have a low case of epilepsy (absent seizures) which I take lamotrigne & folic acid for.   If these anyone that can help I would be so greatfull because all the docs seem to do is give me more & more pills.

Try speaking to a pharmacist in case any of your EP meds can cause migraine. Then ask GP to refer you to a neurologist who specialises in migraine. Hope this helps

    Good luck x

    Hi Jodie

i am in the same boat as you i have been given amitriptyline then topiramate then something i cant remember the name of starting with P (not pitzotfen) and nothing has worked for me

topiramate i had really bad side effects with for 4 days everytime i was about to fall to sleep i got a electric shock feeling that went from my head and went to my toes, however ythat passed after 4 days but still didnt help my migrains

the P one i had to stop taking after a week cause i noticed i had trouble breathing after taking it like my throat was swollen

amitriptyline isnt doing anything either and now the doctors are running out of ideas cause i tried all the meds the neurologist recommended which sucks cause my migraines are a everyday thing

the only advice i can give you is to stop taking codeine because when i went to see the neurologist he told me to stop taking it as it might ease the pain but over time it makes the migraines worse, what i found that works is 'bc pain releif' powders but they are a usa thing so i buy them online and get them shipped here (they are the only things that help me)

as for the epilepsy Topiramate is used for people who have epilepsy/seizures which is also given to people for migraines so maybe ask your doctor about that, it didnt work for my migraines but everyone is different and maybe it will help your epilepsy/seizures aswell

Oh my. This doesn't sound good at all. Have you examined your diet? Magnesium is huge for migraines and also for seizures. Be sure to take an absorbable form such as magnesium glycinate not oxide.  If you can detox off all the meds and work on the diet and supplementation , I'll bet you'll see much better results. Best to you.
